Jenny, If you can find a house called Wilma in Church Road Albrighton I would really appreciate a picture of it, and Shifnal Cottage Hospital if its still standing. Last time I looked for the house I drove up and down Church Road without finding it. Thinking back now I recall it was Church Road Shifnal I was searching, not Albrighton. Well, slap my legs and call me a nitwit! |

I can remember you saying you were born in Shifnall Jim. I am that way on at the begining of September. Will probs take Chris there. It is a lovely village now with lots of fantastic hanging baskets outside all the houses and pubs. Well it was 10 years ago. Jenny xx |

Hi Jenny, All right pedantic-drawers. Lol The Wrekin is a hill 1,334 feet high which stands to the South-East of Shrewsbury (which is North-West of Wolverhampton). I was born at Shifnal. |

I have heard the expression Going round the Wrekin to imply doing things the hard way. The Wrekin is a big hill to the north of Wolverhampton. Actually I was born not far away from there. |

Following on from Bill's Mothers thread. When I lived in the Midlands if someone was refering to trying to get somewhere or chatting away for ages trying to tell us something, we would use the term 'Instead of going all around the Wrekin just get to the point' Anyone else heard of this? |
