Can't help, and mine is a CX3650. Just a thought. As you have only been scanning, are you sure the Printer Option is still available? I have so far only used mine for Printing, and will need to re-insert the CD to download the Scanning Option when I first use it.

Another suggestion is to go Epson website and see if there is any help on there. And have you tried disconnecting and re connecting again----probably a daft thing to suggest but----

We bought a C38 Epson for our local library. It often went unused for weeks. We purchased new cartridges and had the same problem as you. Took it back to the vendor and was informed that Epson have the failing that lack of use causes this problem on Epson printers and that there is little one can do. We had to purchase a new printer (not another Epson). The cartridges are pressurised and the jets become clogged on the printer. I brought it home and tried to clean the jets with a pressure cleaner to no avail. Check with your vendor.

You will find that any printer that has had ink pass through the nozzles/jets and then not used for some time will be blocked with dried ink and sorry to say this takes a lot of cleaning to rectify. If you have old cart could be possible to clear the jets if you filled the old cartridges with cartridge flush this thins and cleans ink away how long it will take I cant say but worth a try if you dont want to buy a new printer Paul

I threw an epson away last year because of blocked heads. There are some cleaning cartridges available but if they don't work you have lost another £20 +. The best way to prevent this is use the printer regularly and ALWAYS turn off printers with their own switch not the mains. ( this prevents self cleaning ) This is easy to do if you have your equipment on trailing sockets. Bob

I have this printer. I sometimes find that you need to do the head cleaning option up to about 10 times to clear the ink blockage. Keep trying

We also had problems with our Epson printer. When we complained we were told that it was cause by using replica cartridges, not the Epson ones. Wouldn't have another Epson one, had lots of problems with it just after the guarantee ran out.

hi all thanks for all the suggestions,i have only had this just over 12 months but as you all seem to think( and i am starting to think)i will not be buying an epson again if i end up buying another new printer.i bought this for the scanner really ,dont use the printer half as much as scanner but saying that whats the point of having a printer at home unless you can only use it when needed, its great for convenience but only if it works lol, anyway thanks all and if you can tell me of a decent printer thats not too expensive to buy and run and not an epson please leave me a message on this thread thanks Barry

I like my Hewlett Packard Photosmart 1215. Has two slots to read my Digicamera discs, will print straight from the discs, great colour, reload my own cartridges, photo programs come with it with lots of options to print photos. Probably out of date now though. Never had a problem with HP. Great support on the web. Also have a Brother laser - non colour. Great for printing census sheets etc. very economical and fantastic printouts. Also have a Lexmark colour printer, fax, copier, scanner. Economical and good colour prints from that. Be wary of very cheap printers - usually costs the earth to replace the cartridges. Check the price of cartridges before you buy the printer.Never buy a printer that has colour and black all in one as you run out of black before you run out of colour. The Epson was bad for cartridges too as you had to buy all three colour (although seperate cartridges) at the same time.
