Hello, OH had it done nearly 6 years ago and has had no problems and got almost 20/20 vision (he has an astigmatism so will never get the full whack). I've got quite a few friends who have had it done and it seems to be you get what you pay for. The horror stories have been at the cheaper end of the scale. OH went to Laservision in Harley Street, who have done many famous names including Scary Spice & Richard Branson I believe, and we figured we'd have heard about it if things had gone wrong with them. OH reckoned it felt like shampoo in your eyes but he had an early night and the next day was fine and was passed for driving. Good luck if you do decide to go for it. Donna

Hi Mrs P I had it done on both eyes about15 years ago. No problems at all. It's been really brilliant and I thoroughly recommend having it done. I guess things have come on a bit since mine were done, but I didn't have any probs back then! The worse thing was the feeling of grit in your eyes for a few days after. I was told this was due to the covering of the cornea growing back. This was controlled with eye drops and wasn't too bad. Go for it. AL

Mrs P, Apparentley the actual 'operation' itself is totally painless and takes next to no time at all. It's the grit in your eye feeling afterwards that is the downside. The first 24 hrs is worse then it improves over time. Different people have different recovery rates I guess. Barry

My boss's wife had both eyes done (not at the same time) about 5 years ago at the age of 58. She has been very short sighted since a child and wore thick glasses until she changed to contact lenses in her 40s and 50s. She wishes she had had it done earlier, she says it's the best thing she has ever done. I don't think it was particularly painful, just a little uncomfortable. She has to wear reading glasses now, but that's probably an 'age' thing. Her son had his done for his 30th birthday present (friends & relatives clubbed together) and he is pleased to have had it done. The only drawback, he says, is that his eyes are more sensitive to light now and he has to wear sunglasses more often than he did before. They both went to a clinic in Hammersmith, London. Not sure about the cost, but I can ask tomorrow. The aftercare was very good. It's something I could never have done - eyes are a big phobia of mine. I can't even put contact lenses in! I'll stick with my glasses thanks! LOL Sue xx

Hi Mrs P, I work with 2 guys who both had it done(at different places) about 18 months ago. Apparentley you can not drive yourself etc for 24 hrs and you have to use special eyedrops for up to 6 or more weeks after. They both had varying degrees of discomfort for a while, not suprising due to the nature of the operation (it dries the eyes out) hence the need for the drops. Both of them have stated that it was welll worth the expense and inconvenience and are very well satified with the results. Good Luck, Barry
