Have spent the day with my 8yr nephew at Morwellham Quay, where you can go down a copper mine, and was able to say to him, your great grandfather worked in a mine much like this, but he dug for coal. Just made it that bit more relevant to all of us. Mavis

When I showed him his tree and explained it to him, his comment was ... 'ALL those people part of me!!'

Hi Mavis, Sounds like you had a great day out. Its good when you have children with you because you can go to all the places where you probablly wouldnt go to on your own. Nice to hear from you. Denise.

Can't fault ya Mavis ! ......... My kids are sick to death of me pointing out things that we are connected to - especially when driving ! They WILL of course pass it on - just like I do now !! Elaine ;-))

Oh, I remember that mine - we took our children down there too, many moons ago. Do they still stop the 'train' and turn the lights out? (Won't tell you what I said when they did that but laughter echoes in tunnels!) What about being able to dress up in period costume? I have a lovely picture of my son looking so much like Bill Sykes that when there happened to be a lady sitting outside the museum with a bulldog (rather than a bull terrier but I call that artistic licence) we asked if we could borrow it for the photo. We spent an hilarious few minutes trying to persuade the dog to look fierce! LOL Glad you had a good day. He will certainly remember it and have some insight into how his ancestors worked for a living. I loved the 'part of me' - we often forget that don't we? Mags xx

Yes still turn all the lights off in the mine and even after all this dry weather, there are still drips of very cold water landing on you.
