Is anyone booked on a flight in the near future? If so, are you worried? We are booked to fly in 4 weeks' time and I'm a bit nervous. Stella |

Stella I would think now is the safest time to fly if you know what I mean, I can understand you feeling nervous though, at least you will have more security and protection than those who flew before last week Joanne |

Thanks Joanne - know you're right, but still, it does somehow take the shine off things. I must try not to keep thinking about it. Stella |

Honestly never occurred to me how the cabin crew must feel, also the pilots. They are to be praised ! |

Agree, it is probably much safer now, but it annoys me that I have always loved flying - in fact, my very first flight ever was to Australia - 22 hrs and I couldn't wait to get on the plane, now I don't feel at all excited - really must pull myself together !! Thanks all. Stella |

Stella.... they are all highly trained in this sort of thing and even have refresher courses almost monthly on subjects like security, so although I used to call them glorified waitresses, I now know that they really are valuable!! One course that Sprog went on she had to sit for 5 hours in a flight simulator wearing a blindfold as they were practicing hostage situations..... she says she ha never been so disorientated in her life but they were taught what to LISTEN out for and how to deal with it!! And to think their basic salaries are under £10,000 a year!! xx |

2 of the grandchildren have gone away today with their mum and other g'parents, they had to be up an extra hour early to give time for the eaxtra security arrangements. Had a newsletter from easy jet yesterday, they are currently upping the hold baggage from 20k to 25k whilst the situation with hand luggage exists. They also say that no handbags are allowed, that what you carry must be in a plastic carrier bag preferably clear, all paper hankies, sanitary wear needed must be unboxed, spectacles/sunglasses out of their cases. No electronic equipment, nothing carried in pockets. No liquids, except necessary medication which must be certified, and only enough medical needs to cover the journey. Heaven help anyone whos case gets lost or delayed with their medicine inside ! |

Hi I'm flying out to Toronto via NY in just under 2 weeks time. In the last few days I have gone through every emotion possible - crying, feeling sick etc, but now I'm trying to be sensible and tell myself that now is the safest time to fly, although hand on heart I know I will be crying tears of joy when I land in Toronto in one piece.
