open the mail and ring the numbers given in the letters. Explain what you have told us, and that you can prove who you are and that you have always lived at your address Any more worries, visit the C A B for advice Elaine x |

I agree with Elaine, June. I had to do this when my daughter moved into her house in February. She has been getting loads of mail for other people, including from debt collection agencies. Hopefully, it's sorted now. M. |

Nanna, I checked with my postman before I opened any of my daughter's mail and he told me it was ok to do it, because we just put KNATA or return to sender first and he told me, it just goes back to Royal Mail and is left there. M. |

Nana once again thanks for your reply we are pensioners so do not have credit all we get we pay for cash but it does make me feel resentful to think that your good name and that of your house can be blackened like this. June. |

June, this is why people are giving you good advice to help stop your good name and house being blackened. One point I would like to pick up on, it is not only pensioners who don't have credit, there are a lot of us younger people who pay cash too. No offence intended. M. |

I gave a bill back to my postman, who told me they have special stickers at the local office for returning this type of mail. I understand you can have your address checked for blacklisting, and can apply to be removed from the list - it used to cost £1, but don't know how much it costs now. (When OH bought his first property many years ago, the bailliffs put a card through the door, saying they were coming back and would force entry if possible - previous owners had run up a load of debt. Also, we found out it was the address that was blacklisted, rather than the person - he was refused credit on the grounds of his address!) Jay |
