Its in a pot and has developed dry crinkly leaves, I think its been in too much sun and is dry,. I know i cant rescue the leaves but should i give it a good pruning and get rid of them? Iv moved the pot now to a shady spot. |

I would be careful how much you prune in case it doesn't make regrowth. They also do not like being in a windy position :O) |

I would advise only pruning in the autumn. Try googling. |

I have had this happen to mine before. It seems to affect the green ones more than the purple leaved varieties. I have tended to let the leaves fall off in their own good time but, as McAnne suggests, keep the plant out of the wind and direct sunlight and try to keep the soil moist and mine have always recovered. Christina you are right :O) I have a red leafed one in a pot in full sun and it's fine - whereas my green one is further back in semi shade and it still gets leaf burn ocassionally ......... but it's planted direct so it stays but it manages fairly well lol |

McAnne - I was amazed the first time (I am very bad with plants) because I expected the purple ones to be more delicate. Sadly my favourite purple one has recently passed on (after surviving me for about 16 years) due to a scale insect infestation :-(( |

Thank you everyone,,, I dont know what defoliation is but i think i will leave the leaves alone and just keep it wet,,,,,Obviously i have had it in the wrong place,,,ie full sun,Iv moved it now to a place in the garden that only gets sun in the morning, |

Claire - defoliate means remove the leaves - ie pick them off |
