I asked him ages ago, if there were any famly scandals. He says no, but then randomly comes out with things! Anyway, apparently, my dad's uncle was at it with his sister-in-laws mother! Scandal! |

Rose, you're not the only one with problems with the word 'separate'. I learnt by being told that the 'para' dropped into the middle of the word. |

Trish, OK fair point. And by no means perfect on the spelling front too, so I hope any glaring mistakes would be pointed out to me too, although in my defence mostly they're down to dodgy typing rather than actual spelling mistakes... Paul x |

And both my mum and dad really pee me off when I unearth something, and they then tell me 'Oh I knew that, why didn't you just ask' GRRRRR! |

That happened to me too Paul, several times. The only thing I found out that REALLY surprised my mum is that her sisters name wasn't what she thought it was, nor what was on the gravestone (she died when she was a few weeks old). The name she knew her by was actually her middle name. |

My MiL seemed a bit concerned when I told her what I was doing - apparently she did not like her natural father one bit - he was more the age of a grandfather - and she was brought up by her aunt..........I had to be careful in explaining that I was only looking up stuff on the census and not delving into anything else. However, I have since given up on that side, as there is no interest for her. When I told my Dad what I had found out about his Mother's brothers and sisters on the census - he said I was wrong, that she wouldn't have come from such a large family, etc. etc. so I just kept that quiet, so as not to upset him......it is her, nevertheless....... |
