Had to get a mate to do rear brakes of the car I bought the other week as have no 'star' tools. When he showed me the N.S.R disc (been replaced) I felt sick as I couldnt believe the state it was in. |

better to be safe tho Malc, wouldn't want to have any unfortunate accident, least you have a mate that can fix it for you. |

Glad you have a mate to do it for you Malc, hubby did ours and then just popped under the car to adjust the handbrake, wasn't intending to go under the car at all, when suddenly it slipped and fell on him, I've never been so scared in all my life. Gillie xx |

I was once driving to town through a winding gorge, with a friend as passenger. I wanted to slow for a bend and my foot went straight to the floor - no brakes. I did not want a hysterical female beside me so said as calmly as I could 'dont be alarmed but I seem to have lost the brakes'. She didnt believe me as it had happened once before when she was a passenger with another woman (whose husband was a mechanic!). I got round the bend ok and slowed to a stop, put it into first gear and was going to drive the rest of the way in first but it was soooo painfully slow I went up to 2nd. Managed to get to a back road not too far from a garage and they collected it and repaired it. The hose had broken. Unfortunately with that vehicle I could not reach the handbrake with the seat belt on (a non-retractible one) so I hoped I would not have to stop suddenly at an intersection. I was lucky. |
