Following 'the state of your house' - what was the oddest thing the previous owners had left or forgotten? When we moved in I opened the wardrobe and found a wedding dress. (Later found out that this was from her first marriage and not the guy she was married to when we bought the house).

Hi Trish I haven't found anything odd but I left something odd many years ago. We had been moved 3 months when I suddenly wondered where three of my competition dance dresses were. I realised that we had left them up the loft at the old house. I went back to ask if they would mind if I had them back and she very snootily said 'I cut them up, I assumed that you didn't want them'. She had our new address and telephone number, surely she could have checked that I hadn't realised we hadn't taken them with us. Chrissie x

When I bought my first house in the eighties we found loads of old motorbike magazines dating back years and years before probably collectors items nowadays and an old Biggles Books and a Bible, also an old leather suitcase in good condition aswell as old newspapers many years old, I just wish I had kept them now instead of throwing them away like my father in law suggested at the time. The house was new we moved in, but it used to have pigs on it beforehand. We're always finding old glass medicine bottles etc whenever we dig in the garden.

legend has it that the old lady that lived in our house hid a letter in the bathroom (somewhere). Haven't found it yet after four years. But will be tearing the bathroom apart to redo in a few months. Apparently the letter tells about how much she loved the house (they were the orginal owners and her OH died in the house). Yes we think we have seen him wandering about. oooooooooooo. Will let you know if we find it. On another note hubby was building a room downstairs after we moved in and accidently sealed in my watering jug and a pair of expensive pliers between the walls. lol

The previous owners of our house, had, in a daft hissy fit over not being able to take their menagerie to their new house, had let all their numerous pets loose before they moved. These included: 2 pigs (a few months later 2 identical pigs and several piglets went on a rampage through a pub garden half a mile away) 2 polecats - they were still flourishing in the back garden a year later! A stallion - he settled in with some gypsy horses in a nearby field and fathered several offspring They also had a 10' python that apparently had the run of the house and even its own armchair!!!! We never found that .................................!! Bev x
