I never use any other sort of pen. This morning I was in a shop that actually still takes cheques and wrote one out. The shop assistant could not understand why I refused to lend her my pen to write my card details on the back. Does anyone else only ever use a fountain pen or am I a dinosaur?

Kris My fountain pen which I use the majority of the time is at least 25 years old, a Waterman. Nobody else uses it. Sue

Are children taught to use fountain pens today?

Yes Kris, both my children (aged 11 and 13) have been taught to use fountain pens at school. Liz

I remember handwriting lessons at school and we had to buy an Osmiroid Pen and use the Italic nib.......

My next question....................Do you use cartridges or bottled ink?

My dad used his Parker pen till he died and used 'proper ink'.. Always black.. We did italics at school..took ages, thin line up and thick line down.. Looked good...

I have an 86 year old aunt who still uses a fountain pen and she really has beautiful hand writing so clear. Margaret

I use a Cross, and have done for years - a wonderful pen. Got to disagree though Aimee, BLACK ink - and I've discovered that the best ink is Mont Blanc (comes in a nice bottle too!)

At the registrars when I went to register my childrens births (1999 and 2001) they were still using a dip pen and an ink well. Flippin' scratchy old thing it was!! Merry
