Just pondering on the punishment and discipline threads of today, just thought I’d share this with you, lol My children were being particularly obnoxious one tea time. All having a rant at each other and giving me no respect whatsoever. They were sitting at the long breakfast bar in the kitchen, lined up like soldiers with me serving food from the other side. Fighting broke out and as I remonstrated with them, waving my arms about, I accidentally swept a water jug to the floor. Total and absolute silence, they thought I’d done it deliberately, they looked ashened faced and peace was restored. As the silence reigned and they became as quiet as church mice, I “clocked” it. From then on any item of crockery that was chipped I saved in that cupboard the other side from where they sat and when they all started fighting and misbehaving I’d lob another piece of crockery onto the stone floor. I have to admit that I bought quite a few bits from the charity shops! It truly did work like a dream to stop their nonsense.. I think the youngest was 18 when his Dad spilt the beans over Christmas lunch about Mum’s calculated “anti strop” technique. For all their brains they never sussed, maybe I was a good actress after all, lol Cherryxx |

Oh do try it Jilly! It's wonderful for getting rid of your own anger and it doesn't hurt anyone, lol Just be sure that your OH is in on the ruse and can keep a straight face when the kids say 'Mum totally lost it this afternoon, she chucked more plates on the floor'! My DH's reply, was always, 'Well you drive her to it, costs me a fortune in crockery, just be thankful she didn't wallop you!' All three sons apparently think it was hilarious in retrospect but the eldest isn't quite sure because he was always the one who had to sweep up the detritus! Cherryxx |

Now that sounds a great idea, was going to send me chipped plates for the plate smashing at the school fete but save them for me!! Star(Cherry) |

Are you another Cherry too Star? Save 'em, the plates I mean they'll be invaluable! Can also be used as a defence mechanisim against OH's etc. No blood drawn you see. Trick is to aim them at the floor, not the person and the one who wins has the most shattered pieces, lol, pmsl Cherryxx |

Yes, that's true Gwen! I can remember liking Kate Bush in the early 80's and predicting that her latest record would get to number 1. 'What do you know about it Mum' Love 'em just the same though, don't you, lol Cherryxx |
