Well as I wasn't your typical girly girl...all dollies and pink stuff...then I guess I was a tomboy....didn't help the fact there was only 2 girls in my class at primary school rest were boys so if we fell out we had to play with the boys....it was only a small school 35 in it in total in my day.....but am more feminine now!! lol lol RDA.x.

I think they are called ladettes now lol. I had my dolls when I was little, but I also had my matchbox cars and spent more time playing with them, or climbing trees and digging holes looking for treasure. I suppose I was a tomboy then.

good point Gloryer! My nephew (aged 15) had such a friend a while back, was still the right word then. Have heard geezerbird from 24 ish yr olds. I always got called it but didn't like the word. RDA - I think there's a spectrum, from ultra girly girls across to 'boyish' girls. Just wondering how 'normal' people see them! :-)))

I can remember a girl who lived near me being a right Tomboy ,played football with all the lads and was good at it as well, Always climbing trees and messing about, BUT when she grew up she was gorgeous and had quite a few children. Davex

:-))) Teresa - I always thought it was much more fun to climb/ play footie/ set up a mission for Action Man outside than to get some dolls and pretend they're drinking tea! Wonder what the stats are Dave - 8 out of 10 tomboys go on to become 'normal' women? xx

I was a long time ago !! Well still am if i'm honest, showed my grandson the best way to climb a tree not very long ago :-) Loved playing Cricket in the street with all the boys, was a honorary boy back then, did'nt like playing 'mummys and daddys' with the girls . As OH does'nt like hights it's me that has to go up any ladders when it comes to painting the outside of the house :-)) So i see absolutely nothing wrong with being a tomboy. Ann

Hiya Jen:) I think as you say there is quite a wide spectrum of tomboys - some grow out of it and become more conforming, some don't and for *some* it *can* be a reflection of sexuality.

thanks Ann, I agree, nothing 'wrong', just a difference from the average. I didn't like the term because it suggests wanting to BE a boy, whereas I just preferred doing 'boys' stuff', and disliked 'girls' stuff'. Still can be annoying to be mistaken for a boy though (at 36!!) hiya David ;-))
