Every buy CDs on a complete whim, ie you've heard of the group/performer but haven't heard what they've done, and just go out on a limb and buy it ? I did that today... 'Breaks Co-op'... its Zane Lowes band (if you listen to Radio One you'll have heard of him)... and its great, I'm pleased to say...

Can't stand Zane - he's on to many 'uppers'.

I tend to buy all my music from Itunes nowadays, so if I am not sure about getting a whole album I just by the song I want off it. So never really buy full albumns unless its something I am pretty sure I'll like.

I think you'd be surprised if you listened to the CD - its very calm, relaxed and mellow, not what you'd expect of him at all... I've seen it described as a cross between Crosby Stills and Nash and Zero 7... I can see the Zero 7 comparison, by CSN are a bit before my time lol

Mags, I do that too, but I tend to use iTunes for indivisual songs now rather than whole albums... I like picking them off the shelf (on this occasion in tescos at lunchtime lol) I also bought the new Paul Simon album, which is also quite good

Last year I bought one of those music cabinets, now on the market, fitted with turntable for any size disc, radio, tape and CD player. It's great cause you can play all the old LPs on it. Lots from way back. Well my teenage Grandson was very surprised when I turned a record over, made me giggle, makes a change for me to have something he hasn't. Got Elvis's first albums, early Buddy Holly & the Crickets,Bill Haley,Beatles loads of different albums. Makes a nice change to hear them all again. Trip down memory lane.Ahhhh Mau x;0))

I think I bought The Go Team!'s album from last year without actually having listened to any of the songs! I was feeling wreckless but the reviews were very positive and I liked how no-one could actually categorize the band's sound as there's a bit of everything in there - guitars, dance, hip-hop that when melded together sound in part like theme tunes from TV programmes. It's a good album but not a great one, imho - somehow feels less than the sum of its parts, however top marks for coming up with something a little bit different. I think I would be very disappointed if there comes a time where MP3s have made the market for CDs completely redundant. I don't feel like I own an album unless it's there in my hand complete with cover, sleeve notes etc.

Tried cds',but the blasted needle keeps slipping off! I've got a 12' black vinyl disc with a little hole in the middle. Is that some kind of a record?
