Forgot to say, I deliberately picked a female in the hope she wouldn't try and be as dominent as a male dog. Carol |

Hi, My puppy Jack Russell (female) is 14 weeks old. We've had her since she was seven weeks old. We have two cats. One is a year old and the other is about twelve years old. They get on great. At first our younger cat was petrified and the older one slapped the puppy around the face a few times and the puppy stopped chasing him. The younger cat took a few weeks to get used to her, now they're great friends. I think as long as you let the cats show the puppy who's boss you should be ok. Introduce them gradually. Good luck, Carol |

Hi Louise... The only reason i do not have a jack Russel ( i love them) is because they do not mix with cats !! I have 3 cats. Please be carefull... |

i agree with diana, go with your heart. it's unusual to be offered a dog, as they are often kept for breeding.....whichever you chose, you will have a friend for life. bryan. |

Jack Russell's and cats do NOT mix. !! Ask my cats !! and the Jack Russell next door !! Not best combination in the world ! Not a group animal either I believe. Next door couldn't choose between two in the rescue centre and was gonna have them both, but centre wouldn't let her have two as they hadn't been brought up together. ?? Elaine ;-) |

I always thought Jack Russells & cats don't mix, I may be wrong. They are good farm dogs, especially at rat catching, so I wouldn't let the guinea pig or hamster out with a Jack Russell (Or cat for that matter) in the same room, lol ! Good luck, :0) Joan |
