My daughter has signed on with 2 employment agencies who keep promising her work and when she turns up at the factories (which arent on the doorstep) they tell her that there is no work and tell her to go back the next day only to be sent home again. She is getting really frustrated with the whole process. She has applied for hundreds of jobs over the last 2 years only to be told she has no experience etc. How is she supposed to get the experience without the job. sue c x |

Sue, get her to speak to the agency that is sending her places, as I am sure they are breaking all agency regulations by sending her somewhere that she isn't expected or needed!! Diana xx |

I think there must be a confusion somewhere. If she signs up with an 'Agency', they will (or should) only send her to a job that is expecting her. She would have to go for one interview with the Agency and then THEY will find her an appropiate job, as and when they come in, and send her to somewhere that is expecting her and her only for each position they need filling. The Job Centre will send her to apply for jobs or tell her to complete an application form etc... My daughter now works for an Agency .... and has been with the same company for nearly 6 months now - although she is expecting to be laid off sometime soon, as she works for a Boiler Manufacturer Call centre, and in the Summer months, not many people phone in because there boiler has broken down. Thats the only thing about Agency's, you go where you are sent if you don't have a position. Elaine ;-) |

Sue - in that instance sweetie they aren't breaking any rules - I'm guessing your daughter is told she may not get used!! Does she have a CV - can i help her create a CV - sometimes even if it says very little a company/shop/factory will be impressed that she has tried. PM me if I can help and as with everyone else I have helped - its FREE, I'm just trying to feel useful!! xx |

Why not get your daughter to make up a list of companies she would like to work for, and send them all a copy of her cv. with a covering letter saying she is trying hard to get work but needs to get experience and is there anyway they could help her. My friend did this and was commended for his iniative and offered a job, which he is still in some years later. Hope she gets something soon, it is soul destroying to be turned away as she has. Wish her luck from me. Liz |
