2 of the local papers have contacted my daughter and I about our forthcoming 60km walk in September for Breast Cancer Research. One of them has published the story this week! They insisted on one of their own photos taken by their photographer and wouldn't use the one that had mine and Liz's approval taken by hubby. So now everyone knows my age, occupation and the road I live in! Let's just hope it has the desired effect and raises awareness of the cause and brings in donations! Jacky :-) |

Why does no one ever comment on my threads? (I know you did Daniel and thank you). I am feeling like one of the thread killers! I think that about 20% of my threads get a response. I know I have been around for a while but am I that boring??? Jacky :-((((((((( |

Hi Anne, I have P.M'd you. Hi Trish, I walk a lot at work and I am trying to do a lot of walking doing everyday jobs. I have had a couple of practice 5 -7 km walks and that will increase in the next few weeks. My daughter and I each need to raise £1500 and although for a good cause, it is hard work. But we are determined to get there! The photo was awful! Shows all the chins, long hair was made to look short. Silly cheesy grins AND they printed my age! Hi Donna, I hope you are doing well. Nice to see you on the boards more. By the way, are you completely mad???? A parachute jump!!!! No Way! Jacky :-)) |

All my best wishes to you. I really, really wanted to do the local 5k in Liverpool but by the time I got friends organised to do it with me all the places were taken and I don't have transport to get to the other available venues. I used to feel it was a personal thing and not something others needed to know about me especially that I had a mastectomy and reconstruction, but I quickly realised that we all need to know about survivors - that's ME - a survivor, four years down the line from my diagnosis and fighting fit. Tons of support from so many people, a wonderful husband, superb family and friends. Good luck and hats off to you. Lyn x x |

Well done to anyone who does this sort of thing. I haven't the stamina for this but try to help charities in other ways, mostly by buying half the stock in charity shops!!! Seriously, I am sure that whilst it is embarrassing to have your personal details plastered over the paper, it is the good deed that will be remembered, not your age, or the colour of your hair etc. Good luck to you all. Hi Lyn, Well done to you for fighting this awful disease. I too used to be private but having heard of so many people I know over the last few years being diagnosed and having had the scares myself, I now want to just make everyone aware that it effects everyone in some way. I also want to help research to stop my daughter and her generation having to go through this terrible disease. Thanks to all for their good wishes. Jacky :-) |
