Thanks again for your replies. I think we may plump for Puerto Rico this time. Donna! It's actually quite nice at the last drop isn't it and i had my wedding reception at Smithills coaching house. Think i'll give the pack horse a miss though!! Lol |

Went to Fuerterventura and ended up in an urbanization called Nuevo Horizonte, near Calete de Fuste. I think it has been renamed now but not sure what it is called. Didn't like it all, but did like Corralejo when we did a couple of trips on the bus there. Went across to Lanzarote on the ferry and coach trip round the island. Went to Kefalonia (Greek Island) twice, both times in early October, stayed in Skala and it was lovely, the beaches were gorgeous, and it was a very safe environment, tables were left outside restaurants, and scooters for hire were left outside office all night, and no damage or vandalism. People very friendly too, and obviously they love children. Would go back anytime. Busier places are Sami where Captain Corelli's Mandolin was filmed and also Lassi, and Argostoli. |

Tracey, we stayed at the Cumana apartments. They are nothing fancy but have everything that you need in them. They are also not too high up. Puerto Rico is build into a hill and if you stay too far up you can have hundreds of steps or a taxi ride. Have also heard that the Terezamar Apartments are very nice but a bit more pricey. They have only been opened a year or two. If you want any info on Puerto Rico please feel free to get in touch. Maggy |

That sounds okay Dave. We wanted to go to Tenerife from Gran Canaria last year to go back to Loro Parque but wasn't sure how the kids would take the crossing..... Thanks Julie, i'll take a look at that website. |

Thanks for your replies girls. We were actually thinking of trying Pueto Rico. Where abouts did you stay lindy? I suppose you have to cope with the cockroaches but it would be nice to be able to boil a kettle instead of a pan and have a piece of toast for brekkie! |

Hi Tracey, we went to Playa De Ingles a few years ago and had a great time. We stayed at Jardin Del Sol, beautiful apartments, very clean with a lovely pool and gardens. There were 4 teenagers and an 8 year old and there was enough to keep us all occupied. Only went for 1week but wished we had gone for 2. Would definitely go back there. Best wishes Carol |

We also love Puerto Rico, have been there 6 times now, just came back 3 weeks ago. Yes there are cockroaches, but we just take our own insect spray, which we spray at night before we go out. Most places will give you the spray if you ask, but we prefer to take our own. |

A nice holiday place in the Canary Islands? Somewhere that is good for families, has good clean self catering apartments with half decent cooking facilities!! We went to Gran Canaria last year (maspalomas) and although we quite enjoyed the area, the apartment was absolutely rubbish. There was no kettle, no toaster etc... but plenty of ants and cockroaches ugh!!! Tracey x |
