Sheila, That reminds me of a friend who's hubby used to go fishing. he kept his maggots in a fridge or a cupboard in the garage .... but then he didn't go fishing for a while. Friend opened the fridge/cupboard door some weeks later and was confronted with masses of flies. She got the Fly spray and was frantically trying to kill the little so and so's for days !! Maggots and slugs ....yuck I'd stamp on a maggot just the way I do with slugs ... orrible little sh*ts ! Elaine ;-)

When I was a kid, we used to go on boating holidays, mostly on the Thames. My uncle was a keen fisherman and used to come armed with rod, keep net etc., plus a container or two of maggots. On more than one occasion, the container was upset, my cousin awoke once to shoes and belongings full of the little beasties. They got EVERYWHERE, and loads fell down into the bilges. I'm sure the people who had the boat after us must have had a plague of flies!! YUKKKK!!!

Yuck ! BC. I remember one day, we had to have trout for dinner. It was only afterwards (and I am NOT a fish eater anyway !) that I was told it had been caught from the local river. That wouldn't be so bad ... but you should see the local 'river' .... it doesn't flow very fast .... :-(( I can still taste it now, just thinking about it ....... Yuck, yuck and yuck again :-((((

Ugh! Couldn't bear the maggots! But I used to go trout fishing with my Dad in the West of Ireland when I was young. I can still taste those trout cooked over an open fire...mmmm.... BC

My son loves going to the tackle shop on a Friday evening to get the baits required... and finds it hilarious when I screw my nose up when they tell me they have got container 's FULL of MAGGOTS. I hate maggots, or anything similar, Cat food is another favourite, along with Bread crumbs etc ... anyone go fishing ... and can you please explain to me what is so fascinating about it ?? It's like watching paint dry to me !!! Elaine ;-)
