They were called Ananas first (also the name of the tree) only called Pineapples because of their resemblance to Pine Cones! That is courtesy of an English Teacher way back in the 1960s who taught us the derivatives of words - our 'English' language is based on either Latin or Greek! get yourself into Netto or Aldi , or similar shop and have a look at the tinned pinapple - its often on the tins. Jess |

Yesish. There is another fruit identicle to a pineapple to look at and it goes by another name. We often see them in the shops (they retails a lot cheaper then proper pineapples) but I can't think of the darn name at the moment.. need to go shopping |
