Can anybody recommend a mobile phone suitable for someone who would have difficulty with the little buttons on the ones that I’ve seen? Is there a phone that is very simple to use – one touch if possible? Thanks for any advice Gwynne

My gran also has a basic nokia. She is 84 and has arthritis in her hands but we have programmed all the family's numbers on speed dial so she only has to press one or two buttons to get hold of us. Claire xx

my parents both have fairly basic nokia's but my mother does have problems with it, more that she forgets to use the keylock though. However, they'd tell me off for putting them in the 'elderly' category, even though dad is 80 in a couple of weeks !

I have a Nokia and I forget the keylock as well though! I think anyone of a more 'mature' age who can get to grips with today's fast moving technology is doing well. My other Gran has only just mastered the TV remote! Claire xx

Thanks, Paul, it's a dexterity problem with Dad so I'll have to have a proper look. He's 96 and has to accept that he's elderly. Gwynne

Hi Gwynne I'd go along with the previous replies and suggest a very basic Nokia. At 79, my Mum has bad arthritis in her hands but surprisingly, she has even mastered texting on hers (which is more than I can say for my slightly younger and far more agile Dad!). Marks & Spencer now sell Nokia phones, and you can choose a tariff (you don't have to go with theirs). Mandy :) x

My 86 yr old mum has a basic nokia, she uses a mobile in place of a land line phone, as she doesn't use a phone much, her pre pay top ups are not as dear as a land line rental. She has some arthritis in her hands, but can dial numbers ok, however texting throws her in a panic.

I'm certain there is one made with big buttons with this sort of thing in mind!! Pop into the carphone warehouse and talk to them - they are normally really good!! xx
