OK Lynda, if I bump into you while I'm over I'll oblige!!! Thanks Lunar, that's just the type of info I was after. Since our family don't come along with us any more, we don't do 'kids' things now, so I'm a bit out of touch with prices. Cheers. Margaret

Thank you for your help everybody. I know 8 is a lot, but these two cousins are really 'little gems' to me. As I'm an only child, they keep an eye on my parents for me (well Dad is in a home at the moment) which is more than reassuring for me. That's why I always like to take something for their grand children. Heee. Heee. Cuckoo clocks are definitely out! Don't think they'd go down that well and they are either cheap and chatty or cost a bomb! Margaret

One of the funfairs at the beach I went to a few years back had gone over to a token system - you buy tokens at a booth to 'spend' on rides. some of the rides for babies were £1 but most were £2 - £3 each, candyfloss can be £2-50 these days ice cream £1 - £3 depends what you get and from where.

Thanks for this info Lunar, but what I meant was how much do people think is a reasonable amount of money I could give to perk the kids' holiday pocket money. I don't have a clue how much fairground rides, etc., cost in the UK any more 'cos I don't have young children any more. Sorry if my question was badly phrased. Margaret

anything less than about £5 each isnt worth having! Bear in mind a bag of sweets ( maltesers say ,) are over £1 a bag for a family sized bag. A comic is almost £1 too ( More in some cases)

Good lord woman just give them chocolate!!! but if you must give them money then a fiver is sufficient as they aren't your grandchildren!! (Pink might be getting tight but me thinks 8 of them is extreme) ;o)

1GBP = 1.45032 Euro 1 GBP = 2.25939 Swiss Franc 1 Euro = 0.689502 GBP 1 Swiss Franc = 0.442597 GBP I would say thank you to just the chocolate as it's the thought that counts not the money thats spent. I usually get given £5 - £10 by close relatives (e.g. grandparents) for holidays. I certianly wouldn't go above £10 especially as their not your decendents.

Will be visiting the UK soon. I usually buy little presents for my two cousins' grand children - there are 8 of them in all, aged between 8 and 13. Since it is becoming more and more difficult to find them something original, I thought I'd give them some Swiss chocolate and some money each, so they can use it for their hols. How much do you think would be reasonable?
