I was at Butlin's Minehead and watching the ducklings on the pond with youngest twig (then aged about 3), when a seagull swooped down and off again with a mouthful of duckling. The expression on the wee boy's face was indescribable. |

yes. I was watching a group or 'spuggies' (sparrows) having dust baths the other day....a little one flew up and as i was about to say 'awwwwww, how cute' a sparrow hawk came down and took it, right before my eyes...S'pose it's babies need food too.... I had a pet maggie once (thatcher) it was known as a 'freak' as it was a cross between a crow and a maggie, the male birds 'rape' the females if they dont have a mate and have a cross bread..which is then attacked by the other birds (coz it's a cross bread,) and killed..Mine was being pecked to death by the others when i rescued her....Very intelligent girl she was too... I also couldn't believe it when a Seagull, carrying a small bird, flew across our garden. I know it's nature but still upsets me.Suppose we could say they're cannibals,I always thought they just ate fish. there again you see 'poor fish'! Mau X |

Oh wow - the neighbours cat has now jumped on the shed roof and the magpie is on our shed 'shouting' at the cat. Think maybe the cat caught the bird to start with, magpie took over and now the cat has got the cream. Unbelievable! Debby |

i hate um too, they are so distructive, serious anger management problems, seriously too im not joking there, i really hate um , my dog doesnt go out in garden when they are around |

That's Magpies for you I'm afraid - they're very ruthless birds. My Dad is always saying that one will go through a whole hedgerow and kill all the baby birds it can. But nature always balances out. Kaye x |

A magpie is on the top of my neighbours shed ripping a bird apart - can't tell if it's a baby starling or a baby thrush. Horrible absolutely horrible Debby |
