After a spouses death, they reckon you shouldn't plan to move for 12months. If the telly programmes are anything to go by, you need to declutter, remove loads of family photos, paint the whole house in neutral colours. Get rid of patterned carpets in favour of plain neutrals, get rid of animal/tobacco smells. Make the kerbside appeal welcomeing. Make sure the bedrooms are dressed as bedrooms and not as junk rooms. And hey presto you got an instant sale!!

If that poor lady was the collector (probably a hoarder like me) then this upset could push her to hoard even more stuff as a gut reaction to her husband's sudden death. Hope she has lots of family support.

Well we wondered why they would want such a big house as there was just the two of them, but they said that had loads and loads of stuff and needed somewhere big to keep it all. Sadly,,,although her hubby is no longer there,,,she will still have all the stuff as it seems that she was the 'collector'.. I think maybe it would be too upsetting for her to move without him, Poor lady,,,i just felt so sorry for her, Debs,,,,August the 12th?,,,,cant wait,,,,lets hope your right,, Are you psychic?

So sad, do you think she will still think of moving as he was so keen on the house, or will she stay put? Poor woman, she must be devastated.

When the person comes along that wants to buy it? We were told by the estate agent, when we were middle sale fiasco that their rule of thumb was 12 veiwings to achieve as sale. How they workd that out i dont know ( kinda make you think veiwing 5,6&7 are a bit pointless), but lo and behold veiwer 11 bought ours . maybe co-incedence but... Jess

I'm not sure where abouts in the country you are, but down here in Poole - near Bournemouth - the market has picked up and prices are rising again. My Sister had a valuation on her house and they reckoned they could sell it that weekend! Hopefully yours will sell soon. Kaye x
