Thanks for replies. Been back a day and still dreaming about Rome. Would love to go back again. About the pickpockets ----I was approached by girl with a tiny baby, while i looked at it the girl put paper over my arm, I quickly caught onto her trick and moved my bag on to my other shoulder, she disappeared rather quickly. Of course there are thieves all over the world, you have to be so aware. Mau xx |

Rome - Best place I've ever visited. Can be split into three separate sightseeing trips, 1.Ancient Rome (advise having a guide for that, or you will be just staring at stones) that includes, the Forum, .Coluseium, Casaers tomb 2.Modernish Rome - Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps etc 3.The vatican - need a whole day for that, Pickpockets generally work the underground trains and the buses as both get very busy and gangs can crowd around you. Having said that we didn't have any problems, but were very careful. Definitely go - in fact can you take me in your suitcase, I don't eat much! |

Hello everybody. Just back from a holiday in Rome. What an amazing City, and so much to see! I am still in awe of the places we went to, and very emotional at seeing St.Peter's and the Sistine Chapel,-------Wonderful!! If you haven't been there do yourself a favour and put it on your list of must see places. Nice to be back home though and read the boards again, even though there's been a few name changes again 'you little tinkers'! Mau xx;0)) |

I went to Sorrento on a package tour about 8 years ago and spent the weekend in Rome.I was really apprehensive about going, heard about pickpockets etc. I didn't see anything like that, you just have to be vigilant like in any major city. Had an absolutely fabulous time. Theres so many things to see The Colosseum, The Forum, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain. Not forgeting the Vatican - an amazing place. The Vatican Museum is a must, especially the Sistine Chapel. I love Italy and would love to go back, trouble is we've got two little terrors in tow now! |
