Thank you all for your replies. I did try replying a couple of hours ago, but as I went to send it, I lost my internet connection. This is three times today it has happened. Eyes and nose not so bad now, but think I may try something from the chemist if it gets any worse. Surprised to hear that the pollen count is at its highest at night. My Hubby insists on havinI large bedroom window open every night even during the winter. it is definatley first thing in a morning that I am at my worst. Jenny x PS. Ann Lazenby, I'll have you know I drink loads of water during the day. J xx

As hay fever is part and parcel of the allergy thingy I feel that I must tell you about my experience. I had used a spray on scented deoderant (for men may I add) for as long as I can remember, tropics and Uk - that is until a year or so ago when I had a violent reaction under my arm pits and have been unable to use that type of deoderant since. I have attempted to - thinking that the problem must now have have long passed but to no avail. So my reaction started very late in life - I am 73. From this I can only assume that the old body just plays up when it wishes!!!!!!

apparently there is a big yellow cloud of pollen over the south east - it has drifted over from Europe. heard this on the radio today. the dj suggested a cure he had heard recommended .... 30 minutes serious snogging!! apparently it lowers your histamine levels. let us know how it goes!! Maz. XX

On This Morning yesterday - Dr. Chris - this was the topic and one of the recommendations was to start taking anti-histimine some 2/3 weeks prior to the pollen outbreak - at the moment it is tree pollen causing the upset and he showed various remedies - but Boots own anti-histimine swas coming out cheapedst but the same ingredients. Asthma and diabetes can be started in later life - joy to the world. Ann

How strange Jenny Was it something in the water in Middlesbrough do you think ? lol I have developed this too, over the last 2 years. I never had a problem before. I also get itchy eyes as well. I am making a doc's appointment to see what I can take for it!! :0) Joan xxxxxxxx

Claire Report 11 May 2006 14:38

Yes you can develop it at any stage. My mum had it for the first time last year. :o( It is a real pain isn't it? Your chemist will have loads of different antihistamines, one of which is bound to suit you. I wear sunglasses all day long as it helps my itchy eyes, and close windows in the evening when the pollen count is highest. I hope you don't suffer too much! Claire xx

Jenny, snap! This is the second year I have got the same symptoms as you, and I assume it must be hay fever! Never had it in my life and at this ripe old age, I get it. Anti histamine tablets should do the trick. I take them when needed. XX BC

Can you all of a sudden develope Hay Fever? I have never ever suffered from Hay Fever, but this past two weeks when I first get up in a morning, my nose seems full of water and leaks like a tap. (Sorry thats the only way I can explain it) Usually it clears up as the day goes on. But today it seems to be getting worse, my nose and eyes are constantly running. I do not have a cold at all. Thanks Jenny.
