has anyone ever or does anyone do payroll for a company? My question is, how does the company provide information on NI Contributions to the inland revenue and does this have to be done by a certain time? I'm having such problems with it. I'm going to lose the plot soon grrrrrrrr Ria

Yes - at the end of each tax year - your P60 details all earnings and deductions and IR get a copy of this :O))) (just don't aask me how but they do lol)

Employer fills in P14, this was in triplicate, 1 for Nat Ins Office in Newcastle, 1 for tax Office and bottom copy is your P60 Now done online; this is our first online and MUST be filed by 19/5 or £100 late filing penalty levied

Ria Report 9 May 2006 13:14

Well............ thats really interesting. After having to walk out from my job 9 weeks ago i've been waiting for jobseekers allowance. I was refused at first cos they said I hadn't paid enough class 1 contributions. Rubbish I told them, i've been working full time for over 2 years. Turns out an employment agency i worked for in 2004 hadn't given my details of NI contributions so isn't on the dss or inland revenue system. I'm almost at the arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh stage, no, I lied, I am at that stage and past it. Dss sent a form after working out the problem, (this took weeks). Sent form to wrong address but lied about doing it. I phoned the actual company who didn't do their work properly, woman didn't understand, said no to recieving form, then lied saying yes she had recieved it and that she had filled it in herself, I even told her she was lying. I know she didn't get it cos the stupid dss bloke sent it to the wrong address. Dss bloke sends another form 9 days ago, they still heard nothing from stupid company, I've just phoned them, they say they are sending form by tomorrow grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, I will phone dss on thursday to check, again!. I've taken so many bits of documentation up to the office, 3 journey's, 10 phone calls between dss and stupid idiotic company, I haven't had a penny for 9 weeks. Moral to story DONT EVER EVER EVER EVER LOSE YOUR P60. WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Although I think the dss have treated me terribly, I wonder if companies are told off for not giving important info. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr fed up;( Ria

Companies (esp small ones) are fined for late info, late payment, just about anything we do in fact! If they think there is impropriety they will investigate and prosecute. I frequently get forms asking about ex employees wages and contributions; it's annoying as I send away all P45's asap, yet the letters always say 'We do not appear to have received the P45'. We are required by law to give information when asked, no matter what or when. As regards the P60, it is now possible to issue a duplicate but it must be marked 'duplicate'. The info on your P60 MUST be on the Inland Revenue's computers - or the company hasn't filed.

Tried to get a duplicate p60, was told this wasnt possible. have given dss complete details of all salary from when i was with this company, Ni contri, tax, hrs, u name it, they have had it. But they insist they have to give a form called a JSA77 form to company to fill in. So, company may have given details and someoen else may have lost it grrrrrrrrr. can't prove anything so can't complain to anyone :(

It was the tax office that said you couldnt get duplicates, isnt it reasuring to know that the main government offices know what their talking about....NOT!

oh dear Ria Don't want to add boiling oil to the already hot waters...but the same thing happened to my next door neighbour last year... turned out that the company hadn't paid her NI cons when she was on SSP for a period of 5 months. Benefit was refused and no come back on the company...stinks don it... |Hope all will be well for you. Dorothy

Hi Dorothy, If she only got Statutory Sick Pay (and no top up from employer) then no contributions are due because SSP is less than the Lower Earnings Limit.
