In the newspaper today: Japanese scientists have discovered that 30 minutes of passionate kissing can help control hay fever. Tests suggest that it relaxes the body and reduces the production of histamine and that didn't happen when the couples were asked to just cuddle.A spokesman said that 'These results indicate for the first time that kissing may alleviate allergic responses' Sooooo if you know someone that sneezes and sniffles through the pollen season - they ain't snogging long enough! LOL Back to the garden to see if I can catch it. Byeee xx |

Mags, Andy Peters brought this up on City Hospital, BBC 1 this morning, to one of the doctors.......... apparantly the adrenaline that is released, during a kissing session helps to narrow/contract the sinus' and would appear to help the condition for a short time. Jen |

surely the sufferer would suffocate before the adrenaline was released and who on earth would want to snog someone who was leaking fluids from various orifices on their faces? |

I AM going back out in the garden, honest! LOL The study tested the levels of Immunoglobin E (IgE) the antibody that encourages the production of histamine. The results showed a significant drop in IgE after the kissing session but no drop after cuddling. No mention of adrenaline. It's more about suppressing the body's allergic reaction to pollens by reducing histamine in the blood. Hmmm, still a thought to ponder though. Do I not suffer because I HAVE snogged enough already? Or am I not prone to it at all? Sadly, I think it's the latter LOL Mags xx |

Mags, Don't think I explained that very well, I think what that doctor was getting at was that the adrenaline released contained a small amount of histamine which helped. Jen |
