My auntie took tanning tablets years ago. they made her a strange orangey colour, even the palms of her hands went orange! It was as if she'd been Tangoed, or had been eating too many carrots. Louise

Karen The best thing you can do is to buy a 'tan accelerator' cream by one of the big names in a department store. These products work by increasing the melanin production in your skin. You need to apply morning & evening a week before you go, every day, and continue on holiday. They don't contain an SPF though, so still use a very high factor sun cream for the first few days out there, then a lower one providing you haven't burnt. Accelerators do work, I have tried them. :0) Joan

No I havent cos i take enough tablets at the mo ,Im very white behind my freckles and burn easily. we always use the highest factor sunbloc, even here, in the summer. I was going on my hols two years ago and didnt want to be the whitey at the hotel so i had the spray tanning done at my hairdressers. It looked very natural and it lasted for the hol. I still used my factor 30 sunbloc tho. Shirley

Karen I'm a redhead too, but have never dared try the tablets. For the last year I've been using the Johnsons Holiday Skin stuff, and have looked much healthier!! I know I've not helped, but didn't want the thread dropping off the page before you got an answer! Sharon xx

I'm going on holiday end of next week and being a redhead my tan takes a very long time to appear and then disappears by the time I get back to Heathrow. A friend suggested tanning tablets that increase your melanin, has anyone tried any? Thanks. Karen
