Lucia, that is sad to hear. I hope you will write a card to his family and tell them what he meant to you with the History lessons and that you will think of him when you are running your race. Messages like that are lovely for the family to read time and again and it brings the person back to them for a little while. Good luck with the race. Liz |

Lucia How sad. I had a brilliant history teacher at school, she used to really make history sound alive and fascinating. She was rather eccentric and carried a small plastic tree with her all the time. She also often had odd shoes on. I found out that her husband had dropped dead one Xmas and she'd never been the same since. Good luck with your Race! nell |

Lucia, what a lovely idea to have come out of something so sad. I'm sure his family - and him, if he knew - would be delighted that you'd be running for him. Good luck! x |

Joan, well he started late I guess. He was only 1 year away from retirement. He'd recently stopped smoking and that's when the cancer emerged. |

oh yes Christine. I don't know why, I always seem to be affected if someone around me dies even if it's someone I'm not close to. It just seems terribly sad. |

I remember having a thread up. My old history teacher had cancer. It was in remission but I learnt today that he died in his sleep last night. He always encouraged me, and he used to make our history lessons a bit livelier. That's how I developed an interest in history and then genealogy. I feel for his family - he has a ten year old son. He went a bit early too. Ah well, always the best that die young eh? |
