Don't you know any children you could try it on to - what is the circumference of the hat you knitted, slightly stretched? Put it on here and someone can measure their children's head and try to match it up. Don't forget to put the right '(ins)or cms.

Very debatable!! Our daughter was a 26' inch size at 5 cos she was a tall girl so she took a size 7-8year old.. \Its very much depends on the size of the child. Our grandson ,who is 5 coming up six< is stocky like his dad & is in 3-4 year old size

thanks, I daresay children comes in different sizes at different ages, wondered what the average was. Looks a bit small for an 8 year old I think, maybe 5 or 6 would be about right. Hoping to put it into an Operation Xmas child box later in the year.

have knit a hat, and can't decide what age I think it should be for, but should suit a 26' chest child (yes I know child doesn't wear it on their chest!! lol)
