Well old telly really on blink now - Ive looked for hours for tvs and chose a Sony 28 inch job - the big fat tvs like Ive always had. BUT hubby has just come home and said we can have one of those thin panel ones. Now, firstly is that what they are called Panel Televisions as if I put in flat screen I get the old fat ones? Secondly - any recommendations please for model/supplier - we are talking low end of price range please. |

LCD - many thanks - I could imagine me ordering the wrong thing on line. The plasma ones are much dearer arent they. Thanks guys, back to the googling for best prices again tomorrow. My hubby is so tight, we never get the up to date stuff, but this chap was here (in same trade as hubby) and made some jokes about us being out of date so hubby immedately said, 'She can have what she wants' (Hmm, but within boundaries, eh!) |

Get an LCD instead of a Plasma. Plasma ones heat up, and can burn you if they are on too long. Also get one that has Freeview and/or is HD ready. If you're TV wasn't broke, I'd say wait a couple of years for that, but no point if you're getting one anyways lol We just got a 32'' Panasonic (everything in our room is now, including the Sky box lol) We were gonna buy online, but when we went in the shop for the same company, they offered us loads of freebies, and we got to take it home with us. |

Hi Jane, bearing up kiddo. Hope all well with you. Been looking at the tellies - there is a Sony at John Lewis but its over £800! They do give you 5 years free guarantee though - so have to weigh that up when checking prices. |

The best LCD on the market at the mo is the Samsung. You can get the 32' with integrated freeview online for less that £1000!!!!! I have researched this hoping hubby will take the hint LOL Julie xxx |

Thanks Jewells, but hubby would faint if I told him that price! Ive just been looking at a 26' Sanyo on the John Lewis site for £850 ? - Its a hundred quid more on the tesco site! and with John Lewis you get 5 years guarantee chucked in and I just noticed Argos want £500 for that! |

Thanks everyone for your help. I looked up the Samsung LCD 26' with freeview built in and HD ready - and it has 5 star reviews. Rang John Lewis and they have price matched it for £699.90 including 5 year guarantee (Argos wanted £500 for a 5 year guarantee!!!). Going to pick it up in a minute. So glad Ive got this board and you lot. |
