A flaming/steaming cup on my task bar.

Java.......is a coffee cup,,,,,,,,,,Java....yank slang for coffee.. Java Runtime environment, is an application that allows certain images to appear... funny things going on lately.........my aol has taken to launching itself while I am on genes, ...........previously I used internet explorer on its own.......... bob |

I decided to do a search and there's 67 files, the earliest is Feb '99 so it must have been loaded in the machine when I bought it. The Icon appeared when an update was downloaded 'cos when I did a re-boot it disappeared. Brian (i) |

Brian this does not sound good...Have you downloaded / opened any programmes or anything in last few days that may have brought this on..If not please reply and do not tough. |

When something on the net is required to use Java, the little cup comes up on my taskbar. Nothing to worry about. |

Brian sun java comes with internet explorer it used in a lot of web sites for buttons and things. Steve |

Not normally on task bar i sure..This is for downloaded stuff and if he not downloaded then i would say do search but as i rarely use java please tell me different..Seem strange to me. |

Hi. Frosty. From what I can see it is part of the system that came with the machine. Having looked at all the files it mentions a lot of other programmes. Out of the 67 files I don't know which to look at to see what it does. I have Norton, auto update, and the new Microsoft Safety Centre which did a scan this morning. The scan takes a long time and goes through everything then reports back to Microsoft. I also have 'Defender' from Microsoft that scans each day. Both give a clear machine. It's just that I hadn't seen it before and I thought someone out there could enlighten me. If anything untoward happens I'll let you know. I don't open anything that I'm not expecting. Easy way to see is to right click mouse on cup and exit and do spybot spyware check, have anti virus and all free on my site..lol..Ask if you want and computer help too, just a fun room my daughter and i added and i not in it much as here the best site |
