Val, you can register for free but to view any cert. you have to pay, it cost £6 for 30 units, it can be very costly if you aren't sure of names or places of birth/marriage or death. On the other hand it is a fantastic site! Tricia

How do we get the credits, I only need one look up at the moment.

You pay to view and I think (haven't been on for a few weeks) it is £6.00 for 30 units. Like everything the more you buy the cheaper it is. But there is a time limit to the use of them. However, should the time run out, you will not lose any unused units, they will be added to the ones you buy. Have I mixed you up? Deanna X

There are some people on here with some scottish records so if you only need one look up it may be better to look on the records board. Or try scottalk.

Val i signed up for Scotlands People and i must say its a very good site, (its the only blinking site) LOL. But beware its very expensive. I got so carried away, before i knew it, i had spent over £200. I had paid for so many things that didn't relate, i also paid again for searches that i had already done. £6.00 doesn't seem much, but it also doesn't give you that many views when you consider its 5 units to view something. Who are you looking for? i may well have it LOL Annie x

Hi Annie I was looking for a marriage between Helen Stewart Watt (it is her maiden name)& William Lennox Watt both born in Angus in Scotland she was born in 1868 and he was born in 1866. Do you have either of them in amongst your paperwork???? Many thanks Val :~)

Reading what Annie said REMEMBER EVERYONE Scotlandspeople SAVES so if you have paid to view before then you can go back to view the same one again free, I can't remember offhand what you click on something like previous searches.

Hi Val, Just looked it up on Scotlandspeople but not listed, tried both names then just his name only, but still no joy. Do you have them on a later census? If so then if you have a child of theirs born in Scotland before 1905 look up that birth cert and their marriage date will be on it. Just possible when they married he just said William or it's down as William L and the L looks like an S perhaps; there are far too many William Watt's to try, same for the death cert I have spent a small fortune on scotlandspeople, just about out of credits and going to ration myself now! But I do have about 700 saved images and they're not relevant to my tree - YET! Happy hunting, Christine
