Len of the Chilterns

Len of the Chilterns Report 28 Mar 2006 23:19

Because of my advanced age, the amount of my state pension will, from 10th April, include an 'Age Addition' of 25 pence per week. Let's see, where can I buy a third of a cup of tea? Or should I save it up for a cup of coffee once a month.

Decisions, decisions. It's an insult isn't it. It must cost more to administer than they are giving.

Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond Report 29 Mar 2006 01:09

Well I know what age you are going to be then Len!! One of my elderly ladies I look after just received hers and her sister already has hers so they can spend an extra 50p a week wahoo! These amounts have been the same for years and probably cost many times 25p to alter all the bank details and send out the letters with the information on. Income support only goes up around £1.80 I think it is this year, as it does most years. The amount a single parent can earn before losing income support is £20 a week, that has been the same for almost 20 years and maybe longer. It no longer relates proportionately to the amount of I.S. the person receives. Whoever fixes these amounts?

John Prescott, I should think. Wonder what pension he's fixed for himself. Len
