My maiden name is Butterworth so standing question at school was 'How much is your butter worth?' which wore very thin, then developed into the nickname 'Flora' (which I thought was a margarine!!) Hubby fondly calls me Dilly (name of a dinosaur charcter) and Fruitbat!! What were or are yours? Helen x |

Lunar is my nickname, I've had it since the last solar eclips in Britian because my brother was going to summer school an everyone, pupils, teachers and helpers had to have an eco name. One of my school friend use to call me squeck (she was bubble). I guess because I was quiet and she was bubbley and outgoing. Grandmother use to call me Fanny ann. No idea why. Dad use to call me Bizzy Lizzy, he'd wanted to call me elizabeth but mum said no so when I started moving furnature like has nan, Elizabeth he called me bizzy lizzy. |

Had several over the years, Bizzy Lizzie (got called that recently again, by a new found distant relative, in Australia). Called myself Bizzy when I was small as I couldn't say my name (Elizabeth) and my brother called me Bebe cos he couldn't say my name.(Was always called Elizabeth when I was living at home) When I was at senior school I was very timid and naive and we had an Eisteddfod each year where we had to use nomdeplumes to enter competitions. For some sarcastic reason, my history teacher (hi Jim Fenwick) called me Passionflower so I used that as my nomdeplume and blow me, I won so had to go up on the stage answering to the name, Passionflower. After that it stuck, and even when I do the school reunions now, 40+ years on, that teacher still calls me the same name. Have also been called Flossie, Kitten, Lilibet by various male friends! Liz aka Purple Petunia, Purple Poinsettia |
