any suggestions gratefuly received for the following, daughter has a back tooth that is disintergrating, think its her wisdom tooth and sharp edges are catching the inside of her cheek, earliest appointment at dentist next thursday, anyone know what she can do to stop the edges cutting her. kerrie had to give in and go as an emergency patient to dentist this afternoon, and is now £86.00 poorer. the dentist was good tho and filled the tooth there and then. feeling a bit sore now, but thats better than the pain she would have felt if she had waited till next week. carol brighton girl. hows your tooth today. jean

When that happened to me I was on hols in Spain. Was able to pop into a dentist and they spent about one minute filing off the edges, to see me through the rest of the holiday!! (this was just done in between other patients - I only waited about 10 mins!) So, I suggest an immediate flight to a foreign land to get it sorted!! Merry

You can get temporary dental filling from the chemist. It might be worth trying to pack the 'hole' to cover the sharp edges. Mags xx

Jean Is there not an out of hours emergency dental service where you are? We have Dentaline here in Kent but I don't know if it is countrywide or not. Next Thursday is no good - surely they could have squeezed her in as an emergency?? Tell them she is in a lot of pain see if that helps - sounds like it needs to come out pronto !!! Good luck xx

Can you not pop in or phone the dentist and ask for some soft dental wax, it is used for just what you discribe, I was a dental nurse for several years and we always used to give a little bit to patients with sharp teeth untill they could have their teeth filed..... Rosi

You have all hepled me too! Thankyou all for your tips. I was going to phone my dentist for advice before my appointment next week. Will be off to buy toothypegs in the morning. Two days ago part of my tooth broke off and the remaining tooth is rubbing against my tongue which is now very sore and I can't eat or talk properly (not such a bad thing!)
