Smoothies - are they worth it

19 year old son eats nothing in the morning - said he would have a smoothie though. Are they worth buying or does it work out horrendously expensive with all the fruit you need just for one?

Me and my three yr old make smoothies every morning, a great way to start the day. I had my maker bought a couple of years ago and never used it... then, after weeks of nagging i gave in and bought some fruit and bits and let my little one 'invent' a drink - now we're adicted!! You can smoothie just about any combination, we put all sorts of different fruit in and mix it with a dash of fresh cranberry juice, if we're using bananas though we mix with milk and a bit of yoghurt.. We basically make it up as we go along, and they're delish and healthy too! Go for it!! LOU xxx

Are the £20 ish Kenwood ones as good as any? And how much does say 1 drink a day work out do you think? I know you can buy them in a bottle for about a quid.

The ones you buy in the bottles have aditives and stuff in them - not good! Fresh fruit smoothies made from home are sooo much healthier...If you bough bags of fruit in bulk and spent say £5.00 a week on fruit and let him choose his fruits it would be less than a quid a day on shop bought ones!
