Does anybody take vitamins or supplements to help control these? Mine are due to hormones, I have tried Evening Primrose Oil without much success. Anyone? |

Nowadays you can get injections from the doctor, which you carry around with you, if they are bad enough. |

Soory Shelia, I should have mentioned I did try Starflower Oil and it didn't really help much. Sally, I didn't know about these injections, I can just imagine me getting arrested for shooting up in Sainsbury's. lol. |

My mum gets really bad ones. Her Dr prescribes a nasal spray. Works instantly and she can carry on the rest of the day as normal. Claire |

Hi everyone from a lurker who enjoys the boards but doesn't often post I suffer from migraines too so wanted to share what helped me considerably A) Feverfew tablets B) Magnesium tablets, has to be 400-500 mg per day. I take both as the feverfew seems to lessen the pain while the magnesium works for the vomiting, light sensitivity etc. Recently I started taking a much lower dose of magnesium, without being aware of this, due to change of make of tablets, and all the above symptoms started to come back. When I returned to my optimum dose, they went away again. Hope this helps |

My mum used to grow feverfew and put it into sandwiches when she felt a migraine coming - it looked a bit like a fern... |

Thankyou everyone! I will try the feverfew. Claire, with the nasal spray does it take away nausea too? Blimey, if any of you read in the newspapers of a woman being arrested in Sainsburys for shooting up and snorting a substance, you know it will be me! |

Kate when I get a migraine I need a day to get over it. Mum's are worse. The spray stops every sympton and within about 15 mins she is back to normal. When we were kids her migraine could go on for days. Hers are triggered by food whereas mine are hormonal. Claire |

Thanks Claire, Next time I go to the doctor's I will ask about this spray. My migraines are also hormonal, you can actually set your clock by them. I can eat choclate, spicy food etc during the rest of the month, no problem. When I do get them it's normally upon awakening and I know it will be a pig to get rid of. I do find though that taking the migraine tablets with coffee helps a lot. Kate. |
