Just take a look at the 'success board'...It's really doing my head in! GR Please tell em how it's done!

Hi Gerri, yes.....I see what you mean....I am sure we didn't have all these problems when we first joined! maybe we read the 'how to do boards' first....I know a lot of you lovely people have started different threads, trying to help people who are new to the boards. but.......they don't even seem to be reading them....give up and go to bed I think lol.....Lilly

If I remember correctly members who have not paid to become full members can only leave messages on the 'Success' and 'Trying to find' boards. This didn't happen previously as all boards except one were available to all members. Ken xx

Gerri I know what you mean people out here on Gen and Tips have tried to point them in the right direction but its like banging your head on a brick wall;;; It has to GR fault in not telling new peep what to do clear enough;;; Good luck Babs

another thought has just come to mind ... when accessing these message boards 'Success' is the default page, this was obviously intended by GR, but where best to get your message seen than on a default page? Ken x

I've suggested this before, but I think it's hight time GR made it compulsory to go through a sort of 'induction' process when you first join the site, so that you have to pass through one stage after another before you get access to the next. If they put simple instructions on how to use the Boards, PMs, etc, on each stage, then at least everyone would be able to see them and read them before clicking onto the next stage. If it can be done with joke threads, it can be done on GR. Obviously, you'd get some people who wouldn't bother reading each stage and would just click to the next one, but it would cut down the numbers of requests for help that clog up the message boards. Im fed up as well seeing the what seems of late, constant trying to find messages on success board. Its getting far worse. It should be read only (for non fee paying members) along with Tips and Records boards. General (and chat) should not be viewed at all without a subscription as this is an extra board not solely geared towards genealogy.... and is often used as a tool for those who want to incite trouble. I think standard members have far too many perks on this site, and maybe the withdrawal of these perks would encourage more people to join as full members. Elaine x

The Success board is the only board where non-fee paying members can post. I think this is because GR do not want to restrict people from posting about how wonderful GR is. Quite naturally, people have cottoned on to the fact that, rules and regs aside, there is nothing stopping them posting TTF messages there without having to pay the fee. I agree that the Success Board should be members only, like the other boards. If anyone can convince GR of this mind you, I will be well impressed, and rather surprised... Liz x

(Name removed ) hi ive came to a complete dead end on my mothers side of the family her maiden name is ASHCROFT my grandfather had many brothers thomas george and archibold(baldy)who i think were older than my grandfather who was born 05-06 one sister that i know of named i think margaret if anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated thanx againx ---------------------------------------------------------------------------Ok lets pull together here.....
