sheet on the bed? With the pattern towards the ceiling? Or towards the mattress - so you are sleeping ''between'' the sheets?

Well if I had patterned top sheet (which I don't) I would put it on pattern facing mattress, then fold the top 12 inch over the top of the quilt. With nurses' set-square corners, and a crease -in -the -sheet -for -the -feet. Hope that helps, Joan

Poor Claire......I usually sleep with my eyes closed, so the pattern doesn't bother me!!

Claire - ignore them love - I know what you mean. I had to once request that if anyone was buying me sheets/covers etc for the bed that they were unpatterened as the patterened ones always feel heavier when you're trying to sleep. Makes me feel like i'm getting crushed.

I have plain sheets top and bottom, which fold over top duvet cover when I am in bed. always use sheets, then I dont have to change duvet cover so often, keeping it from fading by washing every week. and I aint washing the matching curtains every week lol If I had patterned I would have it on top so when you fold it over.. you see the pattern. Zoe,,,I couldnt concentrate on sleeping if the pattern was too busy...It would feel like sleeping in a box of liquirice allsorts. You dont have any probs them Margaret? You must need a nice thick duvet in Canada,

I also have a blanket on top of (my side of) the duvet - annoys my husband all to heck. I'm always cold. Except in the summer when I only have a sheet - and he is still under the duvet.

What about your pillow cases then? Mine usually match my top sheet.

Mine match the bottom sheet and duvet cover but contrast with the coverlet, I have 3 on each side and then 2 big square ones which we flop about on to watch tv,
