Evening all. Someone referred to free bdm continually being updated, I presume they meant in England - can skp tell me which ones, - what the site address is please? Had a real laugh this morning at the Kyneton Library and actually copied this out by hand - talk about male chauvinists (sorry Tony) Compiled from the “Kyneton Observer” 1856-1862) Kyneton Guardian 8 Nov 1861 The K.A. Mail stated that a deputation waited on the Commissioner of Railways asking the intention of the Government as regards crinoline and steel hoops and said after many weary sittings the Government had come to NO decisive conclusion. The Attorney General held that no one passenger by law can commode another for the same conveyance. The Chief Secretary thought that women should be forced to wear breeches and petticoat gowns underneath their crinolines and strip off the latter when travelling – they could be packed flat when traveling and each woman given a ticket claiming her garment and put it on on reaching her destination. The Commissioner thought the ladies should be charged not so much a head but so much a foot – the price be by measurement round. Two feet is allowed for each passenger but women required from 4 to 6 feet. Parliament would have to decided. Cheek of them!!! My two girls (grandies) went back to school yesterday, and were very happy with their new teachers. Homework already (I had to listent to 'The Vanishing washing machine' this morning - quite er uhmmm interesting, let me say !!! lol Night all, won't be on line till Sunday (unless I get to say something in the morning) Be good Love Jood

We discovered that one rellie died in Piper Street Annandale, and her niece died in Piper Street, Kyneton - the former in 1904 and the latter in 1920. Coincidence huh? At the family history centre, we heard there was a ghost there, a happy one. We were looking at some rate books and asked if we could take a pic. Cheri took one first, and then me, and to our surprise, neither of the pics came out. Not even a blank empty screen. Second time it worked. Was it the ghost? lol Love Jood

I see by the thread, the parent in you is coming out...lol If i told ya once...,Iv'e yold ya 3 times....hee hee Free BMD ..U.K http://www.freebmd.org.uk/ My dad was placed in what they called 'The Cradle Roll' Kyneton Methodist.. 25th June 1919 He and his brother Jack were bought up on a farm at Carlsrue by a family called the Darby's. Frank & Nellie Darby. We used to visit the farm on the train when i was about 6 years old. I have a hand written letter ( Quill & ink ) that he wrote to his mum in 1933. His mum was working down in Melbourne ( City )as a part time nurse, and his dad a travelling Piano tuner. Thought i would like to share it with my Geno mates. He writes: ( aged 13 ) 8..5...33 Carlsrue ( as written ) Dear Mum. I am sorry that i havent written before, and if i can i will make this a long letter. I am getting on fine and am concentrating on an examination. Mrs Darby said she gave Jack the money to send you a wire when he sent the parcel but as it was good friday they would not let him send it. I am saving up my money which i earn on catching rabbits and i have half a pound up already. It will be my birthday soon and when i am 14 can i leave school as i can catch a few rabbits to earn a few pence for my bank. I hope Connie ( older sister ) have a job again. Nellie Dempsey said she saw you working in Myers when she was down in town. How is Jim and Dad. We have killed the pigs and it was great tosee them running around with the blood streaming from their cut neck. We are having pork bones for tea to night. Mrs Darby is glad you got the parcel. The pants are to big, a 13+1 would be better for us. The clothes Dad sent us are great. The suits are perfect and the other clothes are splendid. The underpants are lovely and warm, they are just what we wanted for the winter. Well as there is no more news to tell, Good By your loving son Ray. P.s Dont forget to come up soon. Ps. Morning all (rise'n'shine) its all of 6:36. No, not leaving this early - it will be 9.00am before I hit the road. Tony, that was a lovely letter your Dad wrote. (and thanks for the site - geez I hope I don't lose it - naaah - I won't risk it, I'll write it down on a slip of paper and hope I still have it when I get home!) Our Conways were the local registrar of births deaths & marriage - wonder if they signed any of your rellies birth forms? They were father and daughter - James & Ellen Conway. I'm talking from about 1857 onwards. We got the receipt (copy of) for the funeral of James's wife Mary - extra large casket - oooops - she musta bin big! lol Bit brisk here this morning, but sun hasn't appeared yet - I think we are in for a hot one. Good Morning Wattlers ! Hows the first day of the best of your life Flakes ??? Another overcast day on Botany Bay - we have only had a couple of light showers over the last couple of days . . . think all the lovely rain is going out to sea! There are 4 giraffes with stretched necks . . and they seem to be doing a lot of work on the docks building new giraffes. The pilot boats have just assisted a tanker to moor off Kernell - and there is a work boat out working on one of the navigation lights. They have built a platform around the light - so must be a major overhaul. Airport is busy, there must have been a delay earlier as there are now 7 large planes lined up on the runnway into the bay - waiting to take off. Mary, you and John are in my thoughts and prayers . . . you make sure you take care of yourself and DONT DO STRESS !!! Aye J'roo . . . all excited girl . . . I am for you !! Have a wonderful time and looking forward to the journal . . . xo Donna, hope things keep improveing for you . . . as you said at least it is better than before the op - little consolation when you are in pain - but you have the knowledge that at least it will keep improveing. I think Shaz had a really big stress test yesterday . . . they should have thrown a monitor on her as she was throwing the little hissy fit . . . teeheee !! Poor Lara . . . When that Tiger gets back on his feet he is going to owe you big time . . . start planning girl . . . What wonderful news about Jamie. You will probably find his problem with the carer is because he had his accident in Vic, sadly it seems to always be a problem sorting out between different departments let alone two states. Normally, a person who gets compensation has the services they need funded thru their compensation . . and the system doesn't appear to be very smooth for Health depts to get that money back after compensation is granted hence their reluctance to be generous. OK Gramps tell us about Britney and Deans first days at school . . . did they learn how to read and write ?? I will never forget Glen's first day at school . . . I got a few questions answered, then he said 'Mum, you said you went to Grade 1 . . . so why you asking me all these questions, dont you amember anything about it ?' It took him 4 weeks at big school to outgrow his'car' the cardboard box cut out that he drove to preschool everyday . . . then mum had to carry it home and take it back down when she picked him up so he could drive home. He had to drive home, he couldn't walk cause his legs hurt. What I can electrocute myself after Mudgee can I Anna ????? Teeheeeeeee . . . Nah I came clean to TLR about the dryer . . . and he just shook his head . . . gathered up all the bits and said he would come home early this afternoon and put it back together . . but I am guessing that wont happen and he will have a look at it tomorrow !!! (then we may have to go buy a new one . . . teeheee) Safe travelling to Jood . . . have a lovely time catching up with the rellie . . . and Wilson by the sound of things. Morning All, well whats left of it :-) Mary thinking of you and John today, hoping everything goes well. Jood hope you have a nice few days before getting home and a meet with Wilson by the sounds of it. Tony loved the letter, it is funny what children think is the important things in life. Duckers I know you are looking in and not posting so I will take this chance to wish you Happy Birthday for tomorrow. I probably wont be online tomorrow if I am it will be late tomorrow. I have been up early this morningn making sure all my h*******k has been done and my bags are all packed briefcase has all I need in it and also a thingy to pick locks incase we need one lol. We are off to the South of the state today for a get together meal tonight then a few meetings tomorrow before we return late afternoon, just hope we can get back over the border and the gate is not locked to stop us from geting home :-))))))) It is a warm day today and expecting the same tomorrow temps of about 28, at least we have a biiiiig bus with air con so that is good, it is easy to drive, if there is no wind as it is pretty high and takes all your time keeping on the road when it is windy, its only a 13 seater, but very bulky. Judy congrats on the retirement, dont think I have already congratulated you and Roy. Ok had better go and pick up daughter, who slept at friend and then, ex stepmum in law, who is coming to Hobart too, then it will be nearly time to go pick up bus and all the other passengers, and then it will be .............. The wheels on the bus go round and round, round and round, round and round, alll the way to Hobart :-(((((((( Geez Im glad you cant hear me singing, just imagine what its like when there are 8 in the bus singing that :-0 Cheers Sue

Morning Queenslanders, afternoon to the rest I'm a bit late but .....thinking of John - hope all goes well Mary. Have a great holiday Jill - you didn't get back to me over my offer to help carry your tea bags! Tassy - have a great weekend - drive safely and have fun. Flakey - watcha doing? Coffee? Puter?? Walking around just thinking about all the things you can do at your leisure?? Queen - it's almost over - hang in there. Ducks - have you started packing yet? Tony - loved the letter. I went through some of my old letters from teenage years when I was cleaning out the garage cupboards. They were fascinating. There was a 4 page letter from a girlfriend - we were 13 - and in the envelope was another page - Page 5 and 6 - which she had added after her mother had censored the contents of the other 4 pages! It had a blow by blow account of her meeting with the boy of her dreams!! And we think our kids are sneaky!! My day is all kaput - managed to spend 3 hours in the garden this morning - unplanned - just happened but most enjoyable. Pruning, replanting, set up a couple more hanging baskets. Watched the birds in the bird bath and the feeder. Life is good. Catch you all later XX Anna

I think I have found two possible rellies here on Genes - have sent them emails - hope they respond! One of them had the above name - it is an outside shot as all the rest are NSW. Hey Anna I may have to take those teabags out, my case is so heavy, them and all the tins and packets of goodies I'm taking with me for my D. I rang up my travel agent to find out what we can take with us in our hand luggage, as we have a three hour stop on the way over in Singapore we thought we'd have a shower, so I wanted to check we could have liquids etc., seems it'll be okay going but coming back the rules are a bit more stricter like all liquids have to be in clear 100ml bottles and carried within a litre size cliplock plastic bag so they can be scanned, anybody know if thats true or not? Happy Birthday to you for tomorow Ducky just in case I don't pop in, I'm having the family and some friends round for lunch so I might be busy. luv Jillx

Hi everyone. Just popped in to let you know that John has had his operation and is OK, He recons that his legs feel better already but I think it was the morphine talking..lol I have left him to sleep off all the drugs and he will ring me tonight to let me know how he is.He looked a bit of a mess when they brought him back but the nurse said she would clean him up after he had a sleep.Will see how he goes when he is got up by the physio tomorrow and has to walk,,just hoping and praying that it has made an improvement but it may take some time before we will really know if it has, Jill Have a lovely holiday and say hi to my old home Singapore,,I just love it there and might go back one day to see if my old home is still there.. My old school is now a art gallery,, Tony If you had seen the river before the war you would not be eating there,,lol It is amazing to see what they have done to the place..It looks so lovely now,, Ducky Happy birthday beautiful one...are we going backwards now,, I am,,lol I would like to thank all of you for you prayers and cards and kind thoughts for John and myself.. Evening....:>)) Mary. Nice to hear that John's op went o'k. I guess, its only a matter of time to see if there is improvement. Best wishes to you both. Well, we is all booked into Mudgee...( Country Comfort resort ) after looking about at various places to stay. We both ummm'd and aaaaar'd about Flying up to Sydley then driving....or Flying to Cannedbra, and then driving.....but have now decided to drive up after much discussion. approx 831km from where we live, so should only take us an hr or two, if i let Barb drive.....:>)))).. ( jus jokin ) Have done me homework, and if i am correct, its 10hrs 30 min drive......so we will leave Melbum about 4:00am on the Friday morn, and hopefully arrive about 3:00 pm We both enjoy driving, and will enjoy the scenery on the way up. Barb wants to stop at Sheparton warehouse on the way home..???? mumbled something about cheap tinned food and bar-codes. We are both looking forward to meeting peeps we haven't yet met. I only hope Loz has explained...that no one is to mention anything about competions to Barb, as it gets her blood pressure up, and i have to give her smelling salts. Also, please dont leave any tinned food lying about, ( please remove all labels )....thanks. Tony x.....:>)))))) Hz.
