Hi Lew Lew - welcome home to your lovely airconditioning! Sorry you've got the dreaded lurgy - now Gwenda has taken my advice and tossed down a good belt of Southern Comfort and it's done wonders for her. I keep on telling everyone that Southern Comfort works amd no one believes me! By the way - lovely weather in Qld - 30 degrees forecast for next week! I made Osso Bucco for dinner - it was yummy. Have been naughty over Winter and put on a few kilos - Yvette - help - I need you! Byeeee Love Anna

Lew Glad you are home.. Turn up the heating and get warm.. Nothing worse than not feeling well and cold as well.. Nothing like you own home..Sorry Terry didnt have a good time skiing. tell him to try NZ next time.. I hope he hasent caught the dreaded lurgy.. I found that the strepsils were a good help and I am now on the mend side of it and hope to be back to normal soon.. just a little croak left, and the coughing is easing.. Try a Trifley martoonie or a Anna Southern Comfort.. may not cure but will surely make it less visible...LOL Take care Love Mary xxx

Just a quick waddle through. Not feeling crash hot tonight. Went to the dr this morning, spent some time on a nebuliser and walked out with antibiotics and prednesone. Not happy taking prednesone as it will stuff up my blood sugar levels. Just have to keep testing them. I'm happy to say I didn't have puddy tat's problem of trying to get my antibiotics. Laurie, let me know when you are coming to Bribie. Wilson, just let me know when you get to Burpengary, quite often go down there to the LDS church. Hope you enjoy bending the plastic on hey man Tony. Have a good time. Your digs sound just wonderful. Mary thank you for the info about the train and bus to Mudgee. Hadn't thought about the train. Will check it out in the next few days. Jood, did you have chicken soup for dinner tonight? lol Anna, did Katherine enjoy her camp ? Tassie, they (footy team) are doing well tonight. Hi Donna, glad to hear things are settling down. Hi Lew, bet you're glad to be home. Take care all Pam

Good evening to all the Wattlers Louisa bit late I know but have just read the story in shortened form and I am really thrilled for you do hope it continues being a good story and you get to meet all the cousins and your brother too how exciting it must be for you as know when I find an ancester I get excited so can just imagine how this makes you feel. Lew Lew sorry Bright was not so good how can those people live there and not use heating its freezing in the winter up there, you better dose Terry and Wittle Wattie up on the Garlic and Echinacia tablets so as they don't succumb to the dreaded lurgy too. Jood sorry about your soup hehe my Mum put the pressure cooker on one night and forgot it and it blew up and it was all over the ceiling it was spagetti and meat balls in meat sauce she had in it too so can you imagine the mess we cleaned it up pmsl and then dad and I painted the ceiling and replaced the curtains and the blind in the kitchen cause they were cactus. They do make fresh chicken stock you can buy in the supermarket now Jood and all the chef's on tv use it so must be ok . Rebs have you given us away girl ? or just having a break from the boards don't know if you reaking havoc on the GB as don't go there anymore can't be bothered with the BS that goes on over there Patricia nice to see you on here we are leaving here on the 19th of September and going to Townsville for a couple days and then down to Mackay for couple days and then Maryborough for couple days too before Woody Point so will see Cilla and Pat and then Fluffy Duck too doesn't look like I will be there when Laurie will be but maybe catch up some where along the line. Gwenda girl you best wrap your self up in cotton wool and get into the garlic and echinacia and drink water it works if Mike shows the first sign of a cold it knocks it on the head . Jood if you think you had the URI too I read a good thing for that on that site where they had they things to use the sheets you put in the tumble dryer for things they weren't intended for , they said at the first sign of URI drink a big glass of alka selzer it's not advertised for it but does nip it in the bud so no harm trying it if you think you are getting that again anytime which is not nice. Also you can use those bounce sheets for any saucepans that have something burnt on the bottom and you can't get it off put bounce sheet in and cover it with water and leave over night and whatever is burnt and stuck on will just peel off in the morning. that might also come in handy for you Jood. Devily just saw the score for your game wow go Hawks Tony how's that mate 'GO PIES you little rippers' now just relax and not too many VB tablets and if Sarah is stuck in toilet for a while would be checking the phone calls mate LOL . Anna Osso Bucco yum would like some of that might make some up jhere one can only eat so much salad eh . Trifley you sound like you are going along ok and the arm seems to be getting a little better isn't Bowen Therapy different you know I trhought the lady who did my knee was just trrying to find something she just kept moving her fingers around the area and I thought wow whe she said thats it should be a little better in a couple days which it was . Today I went to a cent sale where you pay to get in buy tickets and then put them in containers for the prizes you'd like to win I won nuffin at all, so left there and came back to Mission Beach and went to the Banana Festival at the local primary school do you know that they are allowed to have alcohol bars at their primary school fete up here its unbelievable, anyway bought some lovely plants to take to Cassie and Jason and they were bargains end of the day so as many as I could put in a box and they would be 10 dollars so got a gardenia a palm and some bromiliads too and some others that are that maroonie colour and green strappie sort of plants they all grow like mad up here , if you like a plant you just cut a bit of and wack it in the ground beside it and with in 2 weeks will have taken root its amazing. Also at the festival General Cosgrove was there that's Pete to his friends, he judged the best set of photos telling the story of Cyclone Larry so I walked up and shook his hand and told him the last time I saw him he told me to call him Pete and He said 'yes why not' and he said he was looking for Lyn so was able to tell him which direction she had gone in Mike and I went to a reunion in Deniliquin and he was the guest speaker tjere he was great and such a down to earth bloke. The Festival finished off at 8pm with a fire works display and silly me thought it would be a little bang bang thing crikey it was to rival the Sydney Harbour New Years Eve one all the dogs owners in the van park had been warned and took the dogs away from the park for the time it was own we stayed here and Billy nearly freaked when it started as so close but we nursed him and reassured him and he was fine and now snoring his head off on the bed . ok now folks war and peace is finished talk to you all later hello to all and bye for now love Lara

A lady I saw in Coles said she had seen them for 3.99 kg up around Coffs just lately - ??? they were 12.99 in coles. might make a cuppa. fluff - are you part of the LDS congregation. When my son was in Taiwan, the people he worked for and lived with were too. they were lovely to him. Poor Jood - you are never going to live down the chicken carcass fiasco are you? Never mind, don't let that deter you from boiling your chicken carcasses (or frames as they call them nowadays in all the chicken shops, for heavens sake, even that has to be politically correct). If it makes you feel better Jood, I always boil up chicken carcasses as apart from the fact that I can't bear to waste a thing - being a child of the 40's era etc, they also make superb stock for all sorts of dishes. We had a pressure cooker for years until OH boiled ours dry and buckled the base, it never sat on the stove properly after that! I keep looking at buying a new one but I think I'd need to take out a 2nd mortgage the price they want for them now! Raggy Bear - I hope your legs improve, I went back to UK 2 yrs ago and had a dreadful time with my legs and ended up having to go to Medical centre for attention. I now have a special cushion for my feet/legs to exercise whilst on the plane. Trifley - thanks for your phone details and photo re: Broadbeach next month, I'm looking forward to meeting you. Well OH has half packed his case ready for take off tomorrow, (then again perhaps that is all he intends taking) however he then decided to go out to soccer with son tonight, so don't think there will be any more additions to the case before tomorrow morning. Will say goodnight to all you wattlers as I think most of you are in zzzzzzzzz land by now anyway. Talk to you tomorrow. Lyn

Evening Wattlers, Just had my night time tablet - spose to be an hour before going to bed - well might be that by the time I finish this - just hope I can sleep past 2.30 and 3.30 without my nose dripping again. Has eased off tho so back to work tomorrow - have my strepsils if I get a tickle in the throat. Can defo recommend Southern Comfort - well the slug I put in the glass certainly fixed something - was quite lightheaded for a while - pppppp Lew - glad you're back home - nothing worse than being unwell in someone else's home - they're obviously acclimatised to the cold not to use heating - figure if you've got you might as well use and hang the cost. Hope you're on the mend soon. Fluffy Duck - hope you feel better soon too Lara - glad you enjoyed your day but poor Billie - we had a german shepherd that was terrified of fireworks and the stupid kid 2 doors away with his cap gun - now we have a scaredy cat that got a fright when I blew my nose tonight - lol Donna - hope things work out for your son at his new school - maybe a change of environment was all he needed. Tony - my first thought when I read about the phone in the loo was oh no hope you've told Sarah that the calls have to be paid for - otherwise it might have been cheaper to win the phone calls and pay for the accommodation - haha On a trip to Sydney Daughter stayed at the Intercontinental and had to take a photo of the bathroom cos there was a phone in there too - pppp Raggy Bear - hope your legs improve - sounds like you're having a good time even so. Enjoy the footy if you get to a game - there's more scoring than in soccer - hope you can cope with all the goals not to mention the behinds - and that's just the players in their tight shorts - ooooohhhh - just ask Tassie about footy players in tight shorts - pmsl Jood - are you sure you turned the pressure cooker off - you know you can buy chicken soup in a can - just need a can opener if it's not one of those with a ring pull - lol Better make a move and get to bed ~~~~nitey nite~~~~ catch up tomorrow Gwenda

Evening all . . . It's so nice to have you back Lew, get better soon - can't take a sickie when your retired! I think you should head north instead of south till the weather warms up a bit. Would dry up the snuffles good and propper for you. Donna, our boys wore out several fishing rods before they started high school - they loved it. My Dad was a marvel, he taught them to sit still and be quiet so they didn't scare the fish away - so how could we resist an outing like that !!! Anyway Carlton will get his first fishing rod, along with a multitude of things that just jumped into the shopping - Ray is a pushover with kids. Carltons big sister Chloe will do alright for her brothers birthday party too. We brought her a braclet when she was born, and the idea was we would buy her a charm for it every year - she is 4 - and number 9 charm is among her loot for tomorrow . . . I think maybe we are both pushovers. (Well we are proxy grandparents as real ones are in Indonesia) Trifley, would love to meet for a Wattlers lunch somewhere - let me know where and when and I will be there! I will leave here on 27th - so should be home on 28th, driving up gives me an opportunity to go do a clean up at Mum & Dad's grave in Tuncurry. Will stop for the night with friends in Kempsey. Well the eyes are droopy so best get some sleep - Sleep well . . . . night Pam ~~~~ cheers luv Laurie

Yvette - I'm still around. Have been hunting for a recipe that I had recently for a Pear and blackberry crumble and I bought all the ingredients and now I can't for the life of me find the recipe. Am determined to get my hands on it before I go to bed. By the way I went to a great Lebanese outlet today at Roselands where they sold bulk nuts, flours spices etc etc, it was so cheap!. I read about it in a snippet in the SMH recently and as we were over at Roselands area buying lots of taps today we decided to pop into the outlet. Hey Yvette I worked out by your messages about spare tyres and exercising that you are a fitness instructor - am I right?? I didn't know that. You sure fit a lot into your days don't you? Ok back for more recipe hunting!! Good night all once again Lyn

Yes, cold here too Gwenda - and I'm sniffly again - boo hoo!!! So many lovely messages to read this morning - yes I know it sounds funny about boiling up carcasses. .. I will refrain from mentioning my cooking activities from now on .. pmsl (suffice to say my daughter's pets don't mind, as I pick all the chicken off the bones for them, and they have quite a sizeable pile by the time I'm finished), so I certainly get my money's worth out of it. .. I was aware you could buy chicken stock. .. Will keep my eyes out. .... Errrm, that sounds funny, - I mean I will keep a lookout!!!! .. Considering the little amount of cooking I actually do, trust me to muck it up! Yvette & Lyn - there are stacks of Pear & Blackberry recipies on this site http://www.google*com*au/search?hl=en&q=Pear+and+blackberry+crumble&btnG=Google+Search&meta= Wow Lara - you sure lead an active social life up there in Qld??? Raggy - how nice to hear from you - enjoy your trip to Busselton (nice pie shop at Dunsborough I'm told) - Jude3 if you are reading this, take note. .. Raggy, I used to fish off the Mandurah Traffic Bridge as a kid, near where you bought your fish'n chips. .. Hope your leg gets better soon. Louise, thanks for bringing us up to date with your finds. .. Be great to hear from you again when you have actually met these new rellies. I hear whispers of mini meets on the GC, come on Sydney-ites, we better have some mini meets too!!! Have a great day all, Jood
