Hi all, Been tryin to catch up, takes a while when you’ve not looked in for a whole day, but I did notice a mention from the Cat about going to Liverpool. Is there a Liverpool in Oz, or is cat a fellow pom? Reason I ask is Jood was wondering where my loyalties lie, and I wondered why. We’re all Wattlers, aren’t we? And I love cats, wherever they come from. Waggy |

I've seen a few English place names come up on here from time to time when peeps have been talking about somewhere in Australia. I think Southport was mentioned recently, that's not too far from where I live either lol. |

We have Londonderry (combination of two - one from England, one from Ireland) - we have Koroit (which must be Irish, as they were potato farmers, the residents) Ascot, Randwick, Balmoral, Paddington. .. There could be heaps more, but I don't know all the English towns to compare Jood |

It was your Koroit I was talking about Tony lol .. My dd & s-i-l have a property on the rim of an extinct volcano down there at Tower Hill, and Koroit is nearby. .. It is soooo historical down there, gives you an eerie feeling, especially hearing about the Mahogany ship missing in the sand somewhere between Pt. Fairy and Warrnambool. .. Have walked along the beach there, hoping the ship would pop up lol. Of course the Great Ocean Road is filled with history and is a must-see for everyone. Tony I'll start learning all my towns in readiness for the quiz lol Jood |

Morning I'm grumpy cos I didn't get to do the quiz last night - visitors. Hi Waggy- yes we're all Wattlers but that cat is a pommy Wattler and sneaks in and grabs our numbers while we are asleep - not terribly sporting of her, Wot? On the other side, someone thought that wattles were those dangly things around turkey's necks and that we were just a gaggle of old turkeys with wrinkly necks!!!!!!!!! The nerve of them!!!!Don't worry - we put them straight in no uncertain terms! No Lotto - but the numbers were a bit shonky - 3 in a row!!!! 34, 35, and 36.... you'd have to be tinny to get those. Girls are here filming and making fake blood and turning the garage into some sort of crime scene - there is a sign on the door - 'Out of bounds' so I'm a little concerned as to what is going on in there! Katherine had fake blood all overe her face and she appears to have been allergic to one of the ingredients as her face is now scarlet! Oh the pain one goes through for one's art! Catch you all later XXx Anna |

Mills and Ogle are his Ancestors, and the Mrs.Ogle in this article is his G,G,Grandma and the neice of Captain Mills. My daughter Melanie (the one who is due in 4 weeks )will add decendants to this family. He is Lance Ogle, and his family tree dates back to Northumberland Ogle's and Ogle Castle. ps. Hoping to get a 'FREE' holiday ..at the castle....LOL pps: Its the only way i can beat.....Bar-code Barb..:>)) Warrnambool Standard....re:Mahogany Ship June 14 1890 She was over 8 miles from the spot where I notice the Age search was made by a party of Warrnambool gentlemen for the wreck which, in my opinion, no one but the late Captain J. B. Mills saw. What makes me incline to this view is the fact that my father, the late Peter Mills, who came to Port Fairy in the year 1838, never saw the wreck, although I have repeatedly heard him relate how his uncle, the late Captain Mills, once stood on her deck, that he tried to cut a piece of her timber off with his knife, that the timber was that hard that he could not cut it, and that it was somewhere near Warrnambool. Koroit Residents Recollections Of late, as a result of the attempts to obtain particulars concerning the old story of a wreck of a 17th century Dutch or Spanish ship near Warrnambool, public interest has been aroused in this interesting piece of early Australian history. Mrs Ogle, of Koroit, an old resident, 78 years of age, widow of the late Mr J. Ogle, has supplied some facts which may help the investigation. Mrs Ogle has resided in the vicinity of Tower Hill for the past 66 years. She was a niece of the late Capt. Mills, a whaler of the early days, who resided at Port Fairy. When she was twelve years of age she remembers that Capt. Mills went to the wreck of the Mahogany Ship and he marked the exact position of it in his log book. Tony Oz...who hates Geno stuff......lol update: Thanks Jood, but he has al the Pickles ,mate handed down through the genearations....but thanks for the offer x |
