Afternoon Just popping in while I have some lunch, a cold meat (I wont say what meat it is as some dont like it) I'd hate to turn you off your luches lol, with cheese, tomato and mayo yummy. It is sooo hot over here I have retrieved the fan from the garage, I opened the back door and felt the heat, it is 27 at the moment and thats hot enough as far as Im concerned, inside it is nice and cool but I dont want it getting hot. Oh back to doing more searching. Oh no !!!!! just had weather update and it is now 30!!!!!! Definately not putting up any more lights today. Ps so how many sets has Graeme and Mark put up Trifley, sounds like you will definately win the wattlers award for chrissy lights. Fingers crossed for you local judging. just popped in a bit late. 0000000000 poss has given me the 'access' lesson, now I have to work through through the text + his lesson book. have 2 weeks to learn it. i practiced on the wattlers list first. was pretty warm here, but now a stiff NE happening. might go for a little peddle through the local state rec area + immerse myself in the sea. got 3 free days from ancestry, it has a 'share with your friends' but cant get on yet. will send it to you when I can love yvette x

Hi Wattlers, Here goes the one hand typing. Actually I can use both, but I know about it afterwards. Sandra, it's my left hand that is giving me the worst trouble, but if I overwork my right hand I start to get the pins and needles in it also. Tomorrow I see the Neurologist, so at least I will know what is wrong and how to cure it. Okay girls, Wattler schoolies I mean, when and where do I meet you on Saturday. I am not 100% certain I can make it yet but it would be a good idea to know where. And what do I need to bring. I think we have the makings of a very good book here. 'Summer childhood memories of the baby Boomers' should make for very interesting reading. Lara's story could be first. Do you have photo's Lara. I thing we did very similar things in England. I was lucky, we had a caravan and spent our summers there with of course gran looking after us and Mum and Dad just coming on the weekends. Sometimes we were in the Yorkshire Dales and then later in Whitby. We built dens and swam in a river, learnt to canoe, One year we made a film. It was a cowboy film and we made all the costumes and wrote the script. It was filmed by some of the parents, and we had the premier in November after bonfire night. Those were the days. I have to go, OH is calling, needs some puta help Be back later Luv SuzyQ

LOL Lara re the haircut!! We used to go to Rosebud in May for a week (cows used to go dry in those days!!) I loved it, we swam no matter what and drove up Arthurs Seat and along to Portsea and over to the back beach for just a look. SuzyQ imagine if you could see that movie again - does anyone in the family have a copy? That would be fun! Very horrible hot dry wind here, temp 36.9, keeping fingers crossed no fires start. I'm off early this afternoon but when I get home I don't think I'll be washing windows like planned, I think I'll be inside in the cool. ~~~~~~~~~to all, Heather

I'm Back, I don't think that anyone has a copy of the film but I could ask as I am still in touch with one of the girls from back then. The parents that filmed it, both died years ago. They were a vegetarian family, very strange in those days, especially has my father was a butcher. We liked to go into their caravan because there were always bowls of raw vegies and nuts. Their daughter Brenda and her husband were the first hippies I think. Sadly they all died of cancer. Never gave me a strong urge to be a vegetarian. Another fire burning today, just a bit north, don't know if it's a burn off, but a silly time to do it if it is. Its about 28 today and a nice breeze. Think you southerners are having hotter weather than us at the moment Did you get the roof on yet Laurie? Are you having a roof wetting party? I think Donna's step daughter is coming out soon. Maybe she is getting ready for the occasion. I would be getting excited if it were my stepdaughter. There would be lots of house cleaning and rearranging going on. Well I can dream. I am hoping that she can come over with her grand daughter soon, just to get her out of the way of her father. The court case was ajourned to a higher court, so we don't know the date yet. Tony did you get my email. Guess what, I may have a real genuine convict ancestor. Sent out for attempted robbery and murder. Not 100% certain yet. So Thorpie is retiring from swimming. It will be a loss to the Australian swimming team, but we are lucky to have many great swimmers. I hope his future goes in the direction that he is happy with. Can't say that I blame him, getting up early to train every day and they must miss out on a social life. And then again he has nothing to prove anymore. Well I going. catch up on Thursday, God willing, Luv SuzyQ

Hey all I'm all stretched out - had to go on the rack at physio today and they stretched the bottom of me away from the top of me - very strange sensation. Hope it does some good. Katherine is in the middle of exams - lots of assignments due and still finishing the final edit of her film. Stressed would be putting it mildly. SuzyQ - hope things go well at the doctors tomorrow and that you get some answers. Your packing is going well Trifley - I have some chocky! I'll pack it in next to the feather boa! Have to take K to music X Anna

Arvo/Evening Peeps. Sticky hot day in Melbum, and Air-con on to cool house down. V.B to cool me down...hee hee. SusyQ. Yes got Email mate, and have responded re your nearly, could be, possible, perhaps, looks-like, might be ?,,,,,convict...lol The lady in question who i am assuming sent you the Email had made contact with me once before ( Pamela ) with a request through the Tasmanian Archives link, asking for look up on this particular Convict. He was definatley a Crim, mate....lol Lara. Loved the story. We weren't posh enough to swim at Mornington....;>))) we had to settle for the Yarra river in stunning down town Richmond....lol .....but we lived behind Phoenix Biscuit factory and used to con the workers into giving us kids a bag of broken bickies on the way to the River. Then on the way home from the River we stopped at the now new Crumpet factory and conned a few crumpets, then gobbled them up before we got home.On Saturdays it was 'grab n' run'....as we crawled through the cyclone fence at the Abbotsford Brewery and hid behind the beer bottle reject bins. Then carefully, when no one was looking we would grab half filled rejected beer bottles ( V.B ) of course and walk the back lanes of Victoria street selling them to the big kids for 3d. Abbotsford Brewery was our little gold mine, and we never ever got caught by security. We blacked our faces out with charcoal from the fire place ( as ya do )...and always went at dusk. I was a big 8 and 3/4 year old criminil...lol They were great days. Hope everyone had a great day. Time for a V.B tablet.....but now i have to buy them..:>((((( Bring back the good ol days. Tony Oz....:>)))

Its been cool here all day, only 23 at tea time, even put a jacket on to get the washing in as the breeze was so cool. I think its because we get it straight off the sea. we don't have air cond. our walls our 30 cm thick rendered sandstone-both sides, stays like a fridge in here in the summer if you keep the front door closed. warm in the winter too. doing the fh thing, (a relo of ex got me addicted ). this is funny, pretty much all ex's family are convicts and early settlers. this lovely lady told me so much, but she started doing he oh's tree. saw her bits (oops) in some gypsy searches that i'de been doing, and was searching the same name. unbeknown to both of us. i've been 'walking the streets' again in the census, looks like her ohs family may very well be connected to my fathers family. noting; not in the first relative type of way. love Yvette x

Evening all, Funny things happen when you give up doing family history. All the rellies come out of the woodwork!!! I haven't looked at hubby's line for sooooo long and today I thought I'd check the surname lists - well, blow me down, I had five matches. Extended family lines through great Aunts but very exciting none the less. Two have replied back so far and one looks to have two connections through two brothers. Himself is not excited but, oh well, just as well I think it's great. :) Yvette, I'm glad it isn't too hot down your way as D and family went to Bulli for a 4 day break yesterday. They are right on the beach and looking forward to the change - and hoping the babies cooperate!! We were quite warm today - 34 I believe!

i'm off to woonona tomorrow, which is right next to Bulli. thinking of going on the train instead though. Are they all your engineers Joan? watch out, they'll be a big move away from the firey's towards engineers. Although a big cheer for all those hard working people fighting fires around the country esp those in the blue mountains. they are definitely real life heros. y x

Oh boy, have I a got a tale to tell you girls :)) When I drove out this morning there was not one fire truck, not two fire trucks, but five of them (and a space where one had already left) - one in the garage, and one out the back. .. The downside was, nary a firie around. On my way home this afternoon, all trucks bar one were out. .. They have come from all over the place. .. I'm ok by the way, and so is my daughter (at this stage) Sorry to disappoint you all about the firies. They report back to base here, change shifts, eat, sleep (no not MY house, silly !!!) JA I think Fanny was referring to you, and the pickles. Love Jood
