Afternoon All Well my Chrisco turned up and everything is packed away. Cant wait to get into some of the yummy food. Lara yes Tony did mention about maybe down the track if there was enough interested that we could have a meet in Tassie. I think it would be a good idea :-)))))))) Seriously if there is enough Wattlers interested, it could be a possibility. As for the Records, I will take Tony's words that we have good records, as he is better knowledged with FH things than me as I have only been doing my tree for 2 years. So Wattlers what do you think??? I could do the organizing from here with a bit of guidance as to where, what will be needed and what people would like to do while here. Cheers Sue |

Sorry to hear about your hands SuzyQ, the sooner the op the better. Well we went to the 50th W. Anniv luncheon which I thoroughly enjoyed (up at Leura) and it did get a bit blowy outside, which concerned some of us. .. Around about 2-ish, the hostess told us she'd just heard the fires were near ...... (and she mentioned a few towns) - so most people hurried off - I think more concerned that we might find roads blocked off than anything else. .. We all forgot to have some cake which my g/f had carried up in the car, beautifully iced and decorated - I think the hostess will have remembered by now that they forgot to cut it, we will be seeing her next week, so she will no doubt have some for us. .. On the way down, no problems, traffic slowed a few times, but not for fire reasons. .. Noticed groups of fire trucks on standby at about 5 or 6 different towns, and then 4 water trucks - water trucks I ask??? Turned round the corner to go under the subway, right to my house, and here is water bubbling up all over the roadway :( (we have so little water, and we need it so bad for the fires). .. Not a water person in sight. My daughter, Oh & Lucas were going to Sydney for 3 days to her Dad's place, I was a bit concerned she was going, but she has changed her mind, and only keeping a doctors appt in Sydney and then home again - too risky to stay away 3 days. .. Having said that, *I* am going to be away for 3 days, but touch wood my place is much safer (gonna take one of my laptops away with me just in case lol) I sent you all a sort of map so you can see the towns if they are mentioned. .. I keep an eye on the NSW Rural Fire website throughout the day. The SES and other volunteers are marvellous - they would knock on everyone's door if they wanted them out. Please don't worry - if the worst happens, I'll sit down somewhere safe and send you an email from me laptop to tell you where I am .. pmsl Oh Lew Lew - can you do the lotto Saturday night please? Love Jood |

Must take my binocs so I can zoom in on the butts so I can report back to the interested parties, I think Fanny is one lol Oh, - Must tell you - saw 3 young firies walking past my place a while ago, but I was busy taking delivery of my car, which had just been dropped home after having a service. Hi everyone, Been busy on the F T replacing what didnt get recorded last time.In trouble with himself too. I've over stretched on my downloads so dreading the account when it comes in. What's new??? Yvonne do you know your cousins original name and where was he born and when. Hi Fluffy we havent met yet. You've obviously been unwell. One day at a time is pretty good going. The sun is SHINING today, Even got to about 27. Sending you all a poem I wrote when Homes West finally fixed our drains. I sent it to them as a thank you and it ended up inhead office on the notice board.More likely the wanted list!! This ole house, just like its tenants Was in need of much repairing, For the plumbing had gone haywire, Needed men of extra daring. To attempt the renovating was a mighty undertaking So homes west sent out the call to arms, and Rianna with her girlish charms, cajoled and pleaded for her gran She knew that she had just the man. So, those intrepid men from Knotts (plumbing) Jumped up early from their cots' and with shovels and tools took extra pains To replace all the blocked up drains. Now the lawn's as it should be found And the water's once more underground. We've a bright new kitrche to thank homeswest for and a shiny new handle on the door. This leaves us with just one regret They haven't fixed OUR plumbing yet. Luv to all, Me |

Evening Peeps....:>)) Lovely day in doon toon Melbin, and sunny days expected till next Tuesday. Barb and i were having a night cap on the decking last night at about Midnight, and looking towards the North-West, the skies were redish. Smoke was waffting through the Melbourne suburbs and even very hazy where we live. Joodle. Barb said.. what a great pressie ( Hopman Cup ) I said...you were only going so you could look at the Butts. I didnt think you were allowed to smoke at those venues..?? Just a reminder about the ABC program on to-morrow night, for peeps who are interested. The Floating Brothel....on ABC TV. 8:30pm Thursday, 23 Nov 2006 They were supposedly the scum of England - thieves, prostitutes and con-women - destined to a life behind bars... or death. But instead, a group of feisty female convicts turned their lives around to become the unlikely founding mothers of modern Australia. Three women - an Anglican priest from Hobart, a Sydney corporate high-flyer and a farmer from Orange, NSW uncover the rags-to-respectability tales of their ancestors, as they trace their journey from London on board a specially solicited all-female transport ship sent to Australia. In 1789, the fledgling British penal settlement in Sydney was crippled by more than disease and hunger. Governor Phillip was anxious about the moral health of the settlement and sent an urgent dispatch on the first ship back to London, requesting more women to save the settlement from depravity. But help would come from a most unlikely quarter. Home Office Under-Secretary Evan Nepean answered Phillip's call by scouring the country's prisons for women of child-bearing age. Together they were herded aboard a ship, The Lady Juliana, to be sent out to Australia. As the ship crisscrosses the oceans for almost a year, at each port of call, the women turn the boardwalks into catwalks, transforming the ship into a floating brothel. They will do what it takes to survive the voyage and doing business is in their blood. These are the canny, spirited, resilient women who-as their descendants discover-are able to turn their sense of enterprise into a passport to success in a harsh new world. Hope everyone had a great day. Tony Oz......:>))) |

Tony thanks for the reminder about that movie, I did want to watch it, couldnt remember what it was called, or when it was on. You know very very well what sort of butts I meant Rudi! .. lol - Seriously tho, I do enjoy the tennis. Still very warm here tonight. This is part of the latest latest fire update ......... Strong winds and high temperatures that drove the Blue Mountains fire have eased this evening allowing for about 500 NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS), NSW Fire Brigades (NSWFB) and National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) firefighters to prepare for backburning operations this evening. Crews will commence backburning east along the Bells Line of Road all the way to Mount Tomah then progress from Mount Tomah to Mount Banks. Backburning operations are also planned along fire trails between Hat Hill Road and Mount Hay Road behind Leura. This operation will continue along Mount Hay Road to Mount Hay. I hope they get plenty of rest, all those peeps. Jood |

Thanks Joodles - I thought so. Just been invited to a wedding but I was sure we had a prior engagement :) Merle, I know my cousin's birth name, his year of birth and possible month. I also know both sets of birth parent's names but only approximately the year he was adopted (he was about 3 years old) I don't know the hospital, but I do know where the family was living. His mum actually left him with his dad (my uncle) and vanished. However, due to the death of my grandfather the property had to be sold and no-one could look after the child so an aunt organised for him to be adopted. She was the only person who knew where he was and she died with the information! My Uncle had actually talked about finding him but he died before anything came of it. Going to bed - at least it has cooled down. ~~~~~~~~~~~ Vonny |
