Good afternoon Wattlers, Well it has now clouded over and it looks like rain, fingers crossed. Last night there was a very strange bright light shing over the hills behind us. It appeared to be coming from the Gold Coast area. Every one was out looking in amazment. Never had such a light been seen before. There was lots of speculation about mother crafts, UFO's have been sited in Canungra, there are web pages devoted to it, so it must be true. The three wise men set off, and the shepherds left there flocks. Then I took a look at my enmails and Lo and Behold, that bright shining light was no other that the Queens castle. Well done Graeme and Mark, a more magnificent sight has never been seen west of the gold Coast. When do we get other pickles of lights? please Of course, I then was bowled over by the bling wearing Vonny and her OH. What a handsome couple. Hope you had a good time Then to top it off two pretty little girls with big vegies, and was that a box of christmas trimmings. What about a photo of the tree. Maybe we could have a chrismas tree compitition. All send in your photos and the winning will get a certificate. But wait until later because I don't put mine up until Christmas Eve. Guess what, the wind has come and is blowing the clouds away. Maybe a rain dance is required. Tonight and 10pm in Qld, 9pm elsewhere, all strip off and dance away. That must work, just to get us all to put our clothes back on. Tony, do you put your tree on many sites? I only have it on Ancestry and GR. Where do you recommend. I have just received some photos of my Gt Grand Uncles grave, I can't believe how excited I got. Like you say Tony, certificates are great but photos even better. Not better than winning lotto though. If we won lotto I could go and take the photos myself. Merle, look after that leg, I don't have any more advice, but please take note of all the others. Loz, I hope it wasn't the best wine, but I did have a little chuckle. Well I think it is time I took my leave, Keep smiling Luv SuzyQ

Thanks for the name suggestion Rudee and the numbers! Butter we did not win!!! Mary also thank you dor your suggestion but I am sure that the thought of me being any kind of angel might have confounded even the most trusting of people lol Hurrah for rain Suzy Q Sophie is now indoors Looking forwrd to the picles of Tassie lights - arn't the Queen's just something and as for that gorgeous couple - hope you had a great time To all not well, healing thoughts, and BUB, yes you - hurry up please, you will hate being overcooked, and Grandpa's nerves cannot take much more lol To everyone else, enjoy what is left of Sunday Mary and all - who is coming to the Canberra meet? Gwenda of hard work today, do I recall you suggested the Hellenic Club - everyone happy with that - if so do we need to book. Gwenda Report 3 Dec 2006 06:56

JA - I'm not sure we actually settled on the Hellenic Club - it was just another place thrown in - to confuse us. Mary suggested the Southern Cross, Vonny's a member of Tradies and I'm a member at the Hellenic. I haven't been to Tradies and thought if we could have the buffet that might be the way to go - gives us a choice to nibble on - so guess we'd better make a choice pretty quick and then a reservation Mary & Vonny - decision time For those with rain or had rain - lucky you - if you get too much please send it inland Jood - did you send piccles? I didny get any Laurie - was TLR thinking of a career move after the wine mishap - lol Hope you didn't know your way around Bunnings too well - ppppppppppp Lara - how exciting - piccies always make it 100x better than a cert cos then they are really 'real' aren't they. hi to Jan - pop in anytime - the more the merrier Naughty cat - number nicking again I see Must be time to think of food so I'll be off to the kitchen to rustle up something Gwenda

Just thought id'e ask....:>)) Does anyone still make their own Xmas Plum Pudding? My brother -in -law ( and best mate..god bless him ) used to make ours every year. He used to put the threepenny bits in it, which always reminded me of me mums Plum Pud when we were kids. Barb....not being a cook, and not really interested in cooking has never made one, so now we buy ours from Safeway's. So i just wondered if people still made their own, or prefer to buy it. And do you prefer Custard or cream? I'm both......lol Rudes...:>))

Gwenda

Gwenda Report 3 Dec 2006 07:33

Never made one - always buy one - used to get a Legacy pud but the ANZ doesn't sell them anymore where I am. This year I've got a tinned Big Sister pud - feeds 12 - 4 of us 3x. Served with custard - brandy of course but lots as it soaks into the pud pretty quick. OH has ice cream The best thing with a ready made is you just bung it in the microwave and 5 minutes later it's ready - none of this on the stove for hours especially on a hot day. I have a family recipe for overnight pudding - you get it all ready night before and leave to soak then put in basin on Chrissy day and cook - one day I might try it. My cousin makes it every year cos that's just the way her Mum did Christmas lunch and doesn't matter that she's been gone nearly 10 years it's all got to be the same. Gwenda

Yippee :) Welcome Sarah. There are three of us already from Canberry. Lovely to see you. We are all mad of course - I do hope Laurie told you :) but everyone will try and tell you that they are the sane ones. They aren't really but those of us from Canberra humour the others. LOL (Vonny ducks for cover, just as well they are all having dinner!) have to go and have my own dinner but be back later. Vonny PS most are incognito with Chrissy names at the moment. I'm usually Yvonne from Oz.

About next Sat, did we say lunch or dinner? I'm happy either Helenic or Tradies - both are same distance from me. I don't know where the Southern Cross Club is :) Let's say Helenic if it has a buffet or Tradies as second choice as I know it does have buffet. Sarah - would you be comfortable joining us? I know it is a big ask so don't worry if you can't. happy to go with the flow :) Vonny

hi all, finally 'recovered' enough to read this properly, but now have sore eyes from reading so much. hi to the princess sarah from the city up the hill. hi to jan from wiltshire. my mums fathers side are wiltshire ites, traced to early 1600s. fanciful festivus fanny - should i be decorating my xmas bush? the picnic was lovely, riverside location, lovely poss. workmates. he took me home before I got totally trashed and embarrassed him. pity you were stuck on the boat princeth, i decided not to share my plonk, but I managed to lead astray the hostess's hubby with large slugs of rockmelon port. we played chrissy games, but weren't good at recognising xmas carol names. poss. is usually a champion at trivia, but being the heathens we are... teamed up with another lass for 'siamese present wrapping' and got caught cheating. think we had already passed the .05 limit well and truly by then. can't get it together to make tea yet so the puter will have to do. i can smell something cooking so maybe they will feel sorry for poor starving me and give the serf some crumbs. love yvette x

Hi all We had 4mls of rain last night and 9 mls this afternoon - so in the old measure - that's half an inch which is not to be sneezed at! Of course, we were due to have our neigbourhood Chrissy BBQ at 4pm which was just when the storm came but it cleared and we enjoyed the lovely crisp fresh air and the smell of wet trees. Bewdiful! Tony - I still make my Xmas pud - soak the fruit in rum, and have saved the old 3ps and 6ps. Chris always complains that he'll do in a tooth on a threepence one of these days! Have it with brandy custard, icecream, jelly and fruit salad. Glad to hear everyone is partying nicely - isn't it a wonderful time of year when you catch up with people you don't see often. Cheers dears Anna

Evening Wattlers Welcome to the nuthouse Sarah, Im sure you will enjoy yourself we all do. Tony, answer to your question about Chrissy Pud. I dont make Chrissy Pud but my Mum and Nan (Mum's Mum) both still make their own, of course it is the same recipe. they make it late November and have them hanging in Cloth around the house til Christmas, I dont eat Chrissy Pud and never have apart from when I was pregnant my first child, on Christmas Day when the orders were taken for sweets I asked for Christmas pud and they all nearly fell over backwards, that the one and only time I ate it, cant even stand the smell now. Those who eat pud in my family if it is at Nans (which it nearly always is) have custard or cream but defnatey no alcohol, as in Brandy custard, Nan is dead against it, even in cooking. I have my own special sweet on Chrissy Day and that is stewed kentish cherries and cream, lots of cream yummmmm. Cheers Sue
