~~~~~~~~~~~ morning everyone :) Well if I type fast it will still be morning!! OH, Son and DIL just left to visit the scene of the accident - hoping to jog son's memory. He is steadfastly refusing to wear his assorted casts and slings and his wife is at her wits end. MEN!!!! I told her to go back to work to have a break :) I will be away for a week from tomorrow - I'm assistant cook at a year 7/8 camp down the coast. Must be mad. :o Never done it before so should be fun. Son and DIL are moving back in with us for a week as they have a gap before they move to their next house sitting job. The next one is long term - and I think will take them to October with a break in the middle somewhere. trying to get a tidy house before I leave, so will look in later. Vonny
Morning...:>)) Another very warm day in Melbin.Getting up around 34 -35c today. Hot winds blowing, and me poor Vegie leaves are wilting. Some rain predicted, but the worst job in Melbin would have to be a weather forecaster. Off to daughter number 2 sometime today or to-morrow, as she has bought a Range Hood exuast for her stove, and yesterday whilst picking Sarah up from her house, she gave me the little girl puppy dog eye look. Dad......we bought a Range hood, and we got a quote to install it, and it will cost us nearly $200 to have it installed, and of course she knows exactly what I'm going to say..lol $200 bucks!!!!!!!!!!.......be buttered...:>)) Il'e install it for you for a cuppa coffee and a cuddle. They really know how to work there ol man, my girls.....lol But there kids, and they struggle, just like we did, so i try to help where possible. Yes, I'm amazed at the kids of today. If ya break there calculators and digital watches they would perish. I dont blame the teachers, but like you say Anna......its the teaching standard system. I was no road scholar at school myself, but i still knew how to count,( add & subtract ) if even just on my fingers. Whatever happened to problem solving..?? JudeDIY is away i think?..she did ask not to send her Emails on a post just near Xmas. Thanks for the pickles Tassie. Hope everyone has a great day. catcha ron.......when we win Lotto....hee hee Tony Oz.....:>)))
Afternoon lovely peeps, can someone tell me where the best pre1837 bmd's are. Have a horrible feeling I've been chasing the wrong Fletcher family . No wonder I can't find any connections love to all Merle
Anna
Anna Report 6 Jan 2007 04:42
Hi Merle As you know before 1837 it was all parish records. Which area are you looking for? Have you tried Family Search (the Latter Day Saints site)? Or have you tried the tips/records boards on here for advice? Or perhaps you could try Rootschat - all sorts of lovely helpful people on there and the site is arranged under counties. You can ask on there for help. PM me if you want more details. There are other Wattlers who are far more experienced than I am who may be able to offer better advice. Good luck Anna
TonyOz
TonyOz Report 6 Jan 2007 05:20
Merle. Do you have a particular County that your searching in, assuming its England your Fletchers are from. The I.G.I or Family search link is a reasonable place to search for possibilities. http://www.familysearch.org/ Go to search...then down to International Genealogy Index ( IGI ) and type in what you know. Also, Ancestry U.K If you put what County you are searching for, i could do a search to see what Parish records are available if any. I also have the Pallots Baptism Index cd. 1780 to 1837 although its not complete,but one might be lucky, if thats any help to you? Tony Oz..:>))
Afternoon Wafflers. Well, it's still 32C here at present, so the pool is looking very inviting. Had a phone call from my sister to let me know that my niece's place (the pregnant one) had been robbed!!!! Have spoken to the niece, who is very upset because not only did they steal her keyboard and amp, but also the necklace I gave her on her wedding day which belonged to my grandmother. It was amethyst and pearls and very beautiful. Also the earrings that Terry had bought her to match and her wedding and engagement rings. Anyway, I told her not to worry about the jewellery, because these were material things and could be replaced, unlike her!!! I'm off to have a swim now, but will check in later to see what we have won in Lotto!!! HRH Dr Lew Lew xxx
Lew, what a butter of a thing to happen - precious things lost but as you say she is what matters - my sister had all her jewelery stolen a few years ago and she still greives over the lost memories Hugs for you niece -I hope they catch them before they get rid of things - forlorn I know. Enjoy that lovely swim JA
Judy Report 6 Jan 2007 07:20
Thats a shame Lew, let's hope they may be found, even in a hock shop. .. I personally would feel very upset - even because someone had invaded my place. .. Keep us posted. Tonight's the night (Tony would know the rest of the words) lol Jood
Thanks for all offers. Ill try family search. Tony My Fletchers come from Berkshire as far as I.can tell. I know George Fletcher married Ellen Burgoyne in Belper in 1845. He was GGF He is in the 1851census then .they came out to oz. He's in the 1841 census on his own 18yrs in Belper His fathers name was William and I have him married to Jane Venables 1807 . but can't get anywhere and am wondering if Ive got the wrong william. I'd be grateful for help to see if I am on the right track or not Perhaps they are just being ornery like most of our lot They come from Nth Argyll but dont know when.Ill see what I can find in the meantime. OH lew your poor niece.. Its not the items themselves but the meaning behind them that hurts when you lose something. I hope they find some of them and she gets back some of her memories,. Re the keeper of the pills while you are away.. I think you should lock them up in the safe so that they are not handed out willy nilly to all and sundry..Terry I am sure dosent want the responsibility of them so lock them away for safe keeping.. Merle Tony is a very experienced digger,,, I will fouch for that...his vegie garden is a bottler... Love Mary xxxx
Lewella Report 6 Jan 2007 09:13
Thanks Mary, yes, it's the family connection with the jewells that hurts more than anything. As regards to the pills, I'm still deciding what I should do, but I'm waiting for Ex Dr Tony to tell me why he is an Ex!!!
