Evening....:>))) Just reporting in to let ya know i ain't gone AWOL. Have been veeeeeeeery busy working on a bloke's Family Tree that lives in Melbourne. He has been researching the wrong tree since his grandparents, and is/was now back to England 1790....or so he thought, with 100s of Ancestors that aint his. ( Poor bugga ) He's only been doing FH for 5 months, and has followed the wrong line back. ( easy to do ). He is not a member of GR, and had found my tree on Tribal Pages and thought we were connected, so emailed me because he was a bit confused, about something. He had his grandads wedding cert in Oz,( which he emailed to me to check ) and the suname of the groom was LAWSON .......but he saw it as LANSON.....and followed the line backwards collecting hundreds of peeps, Births ,Deaths and Marriages along the way...lol I shouldn't laugh, but he is so angry with himself, and has shown his family his tree back to 1790s.So now we are working together to try to put it back on track. Barb was crook this morning, and felt ill, as she has overdone the Tennis bit. 4 nights in a row getting home at 2:30 to 3:00am in the morning, and then it takes her another 1hr to calm down....tsk tsk...norty girl...lol Hope everyone is well, and warm wishes to all that are not. Thought for the day: If you woke up breathing, congratulations!! You have another chance! Tony Oz...:>))) |

Hi Jood, Hi Pat Butter! Had just finished typing and I think I hit the enter key instead of the shift key and lost the bloomin' lot! Yes - I saw the comet the night before last - very clearly visible to the naked eye in the Western sky. Quite extraordinary. Jood - glad you had a good day. PIty about the vanilla slices but we shouldn't even be talking about vanilla slices in front of poor Lara! How are you Lara my love? Hope you are feeling better and that is was the wog that was making you feel so miserable. Laurie - sounds as if you had a great day. So much to see. Queen gets back tomorrow. SuzQ - glad the council moved the body. I'm for bed soon - have been gardening again and am worn out. Cheers dears Anna |

Morning all - good to see you on deck Tony - I felt sorry for the poor bloke too, but he would be ever grateful for you putting him on the right track. Merle, hope you got a good nights sleep after all. It's still cold this morning as it was last night (maybe I feel it more than the others). .. They have the aircon on all night, but I had to ask Cheri to turn the vent away from my bed. .. The cold wind plays havoc with my eyes... One eye is already very sore. . Brrr, I wish the sun would come out just a little bit Takr care Lara, that diet sounds drastic. Carpenter is here nice and early - the others won't appreciate all the bangiing. ..They are having a room extension put on. .. Mind you, the builders are nearly a year behind. I'm taking the girls to the library later - I have an ulterior motive tho, want some books to take down to the other house at Tower Hill. ,, The girls love going though and will spend ages looking at all the books. What has everyone planned for Australia Day? I couldn't get an appt at the hairdressers yesterday, seems everyone is getting all tizzied up for the long weekend - I only wanted a cut :( Hope you all have a wonderful day. Love Jood |

Morning all A flying visit as it's off to Brissy today to have our annual eye and dental checks. We belong to the Teacher's Health Society and they have a wonderful dental and optical service in Bris at mate's rates for members so it's well worth the trip. Merle - so sorry to hear you had a bad night. Thank goodness you have been blessed with a wonderful attitude and a wicked sense of humour. Hope you eventually got to sleep. Hi Jood - do they have airconditioning units on the wall which directs air straight at you? My eyes play up with those too - even if I sit directly in the wind from a fan. Old age I guess! We have ducted airconditioning which distributes the cool air around the room and doesn't blow it straight at you. We are going to our local Australia Day celebtation at PIcnic Point. They have bands, dress ups, singing, a fly over of old planes and a sausage sizzle, damper and billy tea brekky. We go every year and it's always really well attended. The kids have free flags and body tattoos of the flag - I hope they don't try to ban the flag at Austalia Day! The Queen is due home today. Hi Queenie. And Ducks - I waited for you :>( Have a great day everyone XX Anna |

Morning all :) Ooooaaahhh - I bought another thing on ebay this morning! A raincoat with a hood for 99cents. lol Of course postage was $9.00 but it still should be a good buy. It's for the boat trip :) Now I'm watching a roof cage thingy for the car to carry all the stuff I'm buying - hee hee Merle - I was up late/early morning last night too but didn't think anyone would be on. However, I had a great time with Google earth looking at the Murray River. Awesome. Some light rain last night so cooler this morning. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ catch you later Vonny |

Vonny - oooh - you ARE addicted to ebay !!! .. You seem to be doing ok with cheap prices, some of the newbies seem to bid too early - I wait till the closing seconds with heart beating wildly !!! Anna, at home, upstairs in my office, the ducted aircon does blow from one end to the other in a narrow room, and that hurts my eye, also the fan is over my head, same story. I wear a baseball cap (no-one can see me!) and that tends to deflect the wind. At my daughters place, the vent is turned away from me in the bedroom - no probs there, but the one in the kitchen blows straight down at the table - always too cold and too strong for me, I try to move my chair away as far as I can - and then of course in their car, I deflect it away from my face. .. Don't know why it bothers my eye, but glad to know it's not just me. Jood |

Good morning Wattlers, I got tricked this morning, left the curtains open thinking that would be the only alarm I would need - and it didn't work. Woke at 7am with the phone ringing (TLR ringing to say good morning) and no sun . . . the rains are ere ! So lovely misty rainy day out there and the temp is just right! 6 stretched giraffe necks can be seen through the misty cloud - and there is no wind so the bay looks like glass. The police boats are out there again this morning so they must not have found those guys who went missing on the weekend. Sat on the balcoonie with a cuppa earlier and the rain stirred up memories, so I donned the parka and walked down to pick some mushrooms (really went a block up to Coles) came home and cooked me up some mushys on toast . . . yummy! How was your evening with the aqua boys Yvette ??? Glad your visit to doc went well . . . your going good girl. Merele hope Noeline is not in too much pain for her birthday today . . . I am another one who has contributed well to the wealth of a certain dentist. I so wish I had inherited my Dads fangs, when he died at all but 92 - he had not a filling in his mouth, and had only lost 4 teeth. I dont remember my mum not having false teeth, so she must have got them very young (must ask Marie about that). Re the knee . . . you know the squeaky door gets the oil dont you . . . ring the plurry specialists office very day to see if there is a cancellation you can have - just keep saying 'I am in agony' . . . may work - you wont know if you dont try! Yes Mary . . . going to the Archives will be a regular thing, I have got myself onto the 'in list' of volunteers instead of the 'fill in' list I was on last year - even got the key to the cupboard with the 'good coffee & bickies' in it . . . so must on the 'in' now!! teeheee Meeting lovely peeps too, the occasional 'strop' just brings a smile to the dial. Glad your still around Tony . . . thought you must have gone to join a tennis camp to catch a certain ladys eye . . . poor Barcode, the price she pays for perving . . . I hope she is OK to use the rest of her tickets . . . give her my love. Feel sorry for your guy with the wrong tree . . . if you hadn't been so kind as to help him he probably would have binned the lot so well done you. Have a lovely time down at Tower Hill Joods . . . guess I will spend Aussie day yakking and laughing . . .something to do with the company I will be keeping . . teehee Poor Vonny . . . caught the ebay bug . . . and the goggle earth bug . . . occasionally have brought 'a bargain' off ebay and goggle earth is a regular open window on my puter. The updated version of GE is not as good of my house up home as the old one was . . . could see everything very clear before - now looks a little cloudy. I travel the world without a visa (or visa card) on GE. A big welcome back to the Royal Household for the Queen and the Royal consort . . . better get that coffee machine cranked up Graeme. Printheth Lew has her 'wet landing' on Macquarie Island today . . Duckers and I were discussing last night what our minds did to the term 'wet landing' teehee - looking forward to heaps of pickles. Have plans to do some sorting of files today so best get to it before the day is all gone. Pick TLR up from airport at 7.30pm so if I put my mind to it should get heaps done and get rid of an mess before he gets back. Cath you all later . . . hope your all wearing your wattle smiles today . . luv Laurie |

Mary the NSW State Archives have two locations, the one in The Rocks and the one out at Kingswood (yeah I know a long drive for me too). They go by the name of State Records or Records Office now . . . but I still call it the Archives . . . will catch up one day. In The Rocks they dont have any originals stored any more, just film for look ups . . . so even if you find what you are looking for you still have to go out to Kingswood to view the original. Your right about there being so many untapped resources stored there . . . there is so much still to be indexed to make them accessible. The volunteers do the majority of the indexing, but we only have 5 computers at our disposal, and the public doing lookups use them too (though we only let them use two of them and three are constantly being used by the volunteers). The volunteer coordinator was telling me that she has 50 people on a wait list to do volunteer work out there but she cant use them as she doesn't have the room or the computers. The work done by the volunteers is checked twice, once by a senior volunteer and then by an archivist - so hopefully any mistooks will be picked up . . . but hey . . . I think we all know about transcribing mistakes by now . . . we almost expect them. We aren't allowed to do private research during our volunteer time, but we can put in retreaval orders so that we can do look ups when we are through for the day. Another bonus of the job is the chat at coffee time . . . get lots of tips from the pros. Plus we can borrow books from their library if were good little volunteers. I am going out again next Tuesday, working on Deposition Registers in the morning and doing research in the afternoon if anyone wants anything looked up. Going great guns with the file clean up . . . dont want to think about how many trees I am throwing out. Lunch break over ! Cheers . . . luv Laurie |

Arvo....:>)) Still cooler days in Melbum. Home early today, as Optus tele bloke coming to change our T.V box top over to Digital. Best time they can give is between 12 noon and 5pm. Vonny. My daughter number 3 ( Mel ) lives on e-bay...lol She buys everything on it, as she says she wont pay top dollar that the stores offer for the same thing she can buy on e-bay. Every time we visit her, she says, he'y dad look what i just bought on e-bay...its sooooo cheap....lol She just finished buying a baby fold up cot, and one of those changeing nappy tables thingy's. Jood. Have a great time at Tower Hill mate. Dont know if your going to visit the old Cemetery, but there are a few of my Son-in-law's Ancestors buried there. His surname is *OGLE*, others are KING, & MILLS and they were some of the origional Pioneers ( Whalers ) at Tower Hill. Think i was telling you about them. They were at Koroit, Port Fairy, and farmers at Woolsthorpe. Google Earth is great mate...lol Ayr'es rock and the Olga's look great also, and was viewing Mount Versuvius ( Pompeii ) last night, and looking deep inside the crater. Great clear piccies, and you can view the little villages that were affected over the years from Volcanic eruptions. Wishing everyone a great day. Bette go make the Tennis girl a cuppa Tea...lol ( and a Disprin ) Av a good un. Tony Oz...:>))) |
