Good grief Wattlers, wakey wake, rise'n'shine Its 8 am here in the nation's capital and we have slipped way past page 4 - gave up looking the hard way Overcast this morning but no rain apparently. Spent yesterday doing more FH - shock horror. Found an error in the Brook FH book that cuz Ruth had spent so much time and effort on. Sent her an email and apparently she has a few other corrections to make - oh well don't suppose any of these books are ever 100%. Did some more ironing last night - I'm getting there - need to as I've put in my order for my wardrobes and I'll need to hang everything somewhere the day each one is done. They are being done one at a time as I couldn't cope with double the mess. The linen cupboard will also be done - good time to have a clean out - won't be before time either. Off to get brekky before I decide what jobs to tackle today or maybe more FH (((((hugs))))) and ~~~~~~~~ to all, have a great day whatever you do Gwenda |

Morning all Went to Brissy yesterday - mission accomplished - polished toothy pegs and new glasses - maybe I'll see better now. And yesterday, I got a reply to a letter I'd sent to America before Christmas from Chris's uncle. Had an ancient address and checked in the American phone book on the net and found he was still listed at the same address. Chris had 3 aunts who went to America as war brides. Lost touch over the years and we thought they may all have passed on by now. Indeed one has, but I had a lovely letter from her husband and he was able to give me the current addresses of the other 2 sisters and their families so I will be doing some letter writing as they would have an enormous knowledge of Chris's family history which we don't know. So - occasionally one has a win in family history which keeps us on the never ending quest I guess. Are you back Queen? Hope you had a lovely break. Tony - hope Barcode Barb has recovered. Who was she barracking for last night? I liked the Spanish hottie - but he lost. It was a good game though. Hi Shazz - have a lovely Austalia day - you'll be in good company. Gwenda - we had a family history book done for my mothe'rs side of the family and they put so much work into it. As soon as it was distributed, there were people coming out of the woodwork saying 'That's wrong' - pity they coudn't have got off their lazy backsides and volunteered the information in the first place. Well - the washing machine is calling me with one of its incessant beeps which cannot be ignored. Catch you all later Have a lovely day XX Anna |

Good morning all, another overcast day on the bay . . . just a few sprinkles every now and then . . and shock !!! horror !!! not a single giraffe neck stretched high . . . they must all be working hard. Gwenda, with these new skills you have developed, ironing and cupboard cleaning . . . got a challenge for you !! teeheee Well seems we are all having some little finds in the FH department lately . . . my latest . . . have slowly been going thru checking the new year of birth, deaths and marriages . . . and right where I dinny think I had anything to find . . . out pops an unexpected birth. Grandma Kate was a mystery girl. She had Aunty Jenny in 1903 (Jen was raised by her grandparents as their own) She had Gerte in Vic in Feb 1907 She married grandfather in June 1907 in Vic Gerte died in Vic in Dec 1907 and then Uncle Tom (William Herbert) was born in WW in 1908 then 3 more boys and 4 more girls in following years (incl my Dad) I thought I had her all worked out untill today . . . just found another birth for a William Henry born in Albury in 1906 !!!! can't find a death yet so will check out Vic and see if he died down there. Both Gerte and the new WH were registered as Goodfellow - with father William Henry so she and Grandfather must have been together then . . . and Gran was born in March 1884 . . . over the age of consent . . . questions questions questions . . . Mind you we only found out about Gerte when I started digging. Apt that I find a new brother for Dad today . . . his birthday! I know . . . he was showing me he knew something I didn't - just like him !!! Morning Shaz . . . looking forward to the weekend !!! Got the lamb chops for the barbie !!!! Get those letters written Anna . . . while the other aunts are still around to give you more info . . . OOOH and bet they have lots of pickles to share too !! Good stuff !! 40mls of rain out at the nephews property near Cobar yesterday . . . but still nothing at WW . . bugger !!!! Have a great day everyone, I am off to pay some bills then hurry home to try and find out what happende to the new WH. Cheers Luv Laurie |

Lara darlin’ hope you are OK, I’m thinking of you constantly, little bit worried you are so under the weather, hope the household is improving. Weather is milder at least. Aussie day looks good as dear friend’s American hubby is becoming an Occa Oz tomorrow and we’re going to BBQ is style after his ceremony at 2pm. ~~~~~~~~~~~to all, Hz PS Melbourne Trading Post has free flag tattoo for tomorrow if you buy one - wonder if one of the Sydney papers is doing similar. |

Makes it finally start to be a reality...not that Im changeing my mind. only 6 more sleeps!! We are going out for Greek food tonight as a kind of early retirement celebration. Jess flies to Perth at some ungodly hour of the morning tomorrow, to meet up with the Aussies she traveled Europe with last year. She is away for a week, so Aust Day will be a very quiet one for us. Might just catch up on visiting friends and rellies we haven't seen for a while. Trifely, did you have a good break? Teeheeee . . . had to share !! penned by one of my sisters Olly-daze Then lucky sods down unda ave a thing that will amaze, Every time they turn haround there jest more olly daze. They declare em when there aint enough them spoiled folks in the south, Trust me, wood I lie to you, its from the orses mouth. The Melbourne cup is jest a tad of the fings they get hup to, Seems if ya is orstralian a olly- day’s true blue. They ave em for a picnic, they ave em for the Queen, They’s the most hindulged people wut the world as ever seen. Blimey if’n ya don’t believe me just check a calendar art, Theys written there so them Ozzie folks will never ave a doubt. So that they wont forget that they don’t ave to go ta work, Them calendars remind em of their great orstralian perk. They ave Bank olly-days, and Proclamation an Adelaide cup wood’n ya know Then Anzac day an Labour Day and Foundation day gets a show. We wont even mention Easter and the time they ave orf then. Come Christmas time them lazy sods just start all over agin. They reckon theys ard done by they whinge an gripe an moan, Y’d think them bloody Ozzies lived in the twilight zone. An if they need an extra day or two to pass their pleasure, They got this institution called a “sickie” they seem to take at leisure. Ya gotta give them their just due they’s pretty smart and wise, They ave their cake an eat it too from sunup to sunrise. I ad to pen me thoughts and doubts in this funny sorta way Nows time to pack me bag an run, . . . . . tamorrows another bloody olly-day. |

Hurray for Barbcode - Vonny rushes away and inspects choccy wrappers :) Arvo all - I snuck out early today and went shopping, got a parking spot - it's public service payday - and was home by 11am. THEN realised I had forgotten to pay the phone bill!!! Butter. have to go out again now :( Had a really funny morning cause I had put on a T-shirt we bought in Jasper, Canada, which has different animal paw prints with names beside them. Never had sooooooo much interest in my 'chest' before LOL. And so many people started up a conversation with me as I stood in various queues. The bank lady mentioned that I should be glad they were now paperless cause I was obviously 'a greenie' and one guy in Woolies wouldn't stop telling me about his divorce!!! I said to the check out lady that it was the last time I was going to wear that particular top while shopping!!! I'll bring it to Mudgee :) Lovely poem L'oz. Your sis is very clever but she forgot Canberra Day!!!! :) That's our own special long weekend that only we get! pppppppppppppp ~~~~~~~~~~ to all, I'll be around Vonny |

It's going to be an interesting exercise anyway cos I'm such a hoarder and always keeping stuff for justin..................case Gwenda |

Laurie You have a very tallented sister,, what a fab poem,, How do I get it off this page and into a email I want to send to my uncle in the UK..I have been trying to cut and paste but it wont work for me,,I am not puta literate,,,she should put all her poems in a book ,, Tony What a clever little lady you have there.. Congratulations to the fabulous Barb,,,count yourself lucky its chockolate this time and not more baked beans..lol,, Will she be at the tennis to see the big match at around 7.30.Federer (spelling) and Roddick,,should be a great match.. Vonny,, Sounds like a great T shirt,, One thing I dont have to do is go out and pay any bills,, They are all on direct debit so that if any come in while we are away they get paid automatically,, We had to do that when we went travelling so we didnt have to worry, now really love it as its done all by itself and I dont have to think about it. Hope everyone is haveing a nice day,,, Love Mary xxxx |

Hi Vonny I know what you mean when you cant get the bl..dy tent back into its original bag..lol We went and bought one of those chinese plastic bags (around $2 in the $2 shop) and we put it in that no trouble..They are worth their weight in gold in how many ways we used them,, I used to use one as a washing basket when I was caravaning.. folds up top nothing and goes in a small space in the van.. I do miss my van but that is another story and I dont miss the cleaning of it..lol....I think I miss the travel more than the van,,dont know,,,???? Had a lovely dinner tonight and used lots of herbs out of my garden and did some lamb chops..yummy... Back Later Love Mary xxxx |
